sydneycouple -> Terms of endearment. (1/30/2005 1:59:57 PM)

I would like to ask the females here when they think starting to call you "honey" or "my darling" "georgeous" by your Dom is too soon or not soon enough ?
Should it be on line after the first phone call or is this subject too much of a variable ?

I think that it depends. He started calling me "sweetie" and "honey" after only a week or two, but it was about a month before he started calling me "baby girl" I think that it varies based on the term used.

To me it depends on the Dom, if it's part of their personality to use it right away & it feels right then it doesn't bother me. But if it sounds unlike who they are then I don't want them to use it. I like being called girl or dear, but that's just my preference.

I call everyone "my dear" or "darling" at some point or another. I once slipped up and addressed a police officer that way. For some damn reason, he thought I was coming on to him. I'm not entirely sure, but I think he might have been interested. A pity his professionalism got in the way. (sigh) oh, well, that was a long time ago, and he never even gave me his number.

Intruding into sub arena.. but for me pet names are just a part of my everyday expressions of speech. I call everbody "sweetie" in part cause I meet so many people day to day that I just can't manage to remember all the names, and part cause.. well... it's just a southern thing. I'm not discriminatory, even the lawn guys get a "Thanks sweetie" when I pay them or a "here ya go sweetie" when I hand them a lemonaid. On occassion I use "darlin" but those two I have found impossible to eradicate from my vocabulary. When at a community wide event I call everyone "sexy", "handsome" or something akin to "sweet cheeks" or "sexy lady".. you get the picture. It is just a part of who I am, has nothing to do with how well I know them, or if they are my sub or not.

It was several months before Master called me by anything but my first name. Now I am known as "slick" although I occasionally get a "hunny bunny" thrown in.

I would say it depends upon the two involved, although I personally wouldn't ever object to gorgeous, even upon the first the first meeting. [:D]

Doug was calling me darling before we ever met face to face. I can't say exactly how much phone communication there was at that point.

My real pet name didn't come until long after when he received my submission.

So, I have to agree with everyone else. When it feels comfortable for both parties. If you don't feel comfortable tell the dom. How are they going to know unless there is open communication?

i think pet nemaes just kind of slip in unexpectedly. I don't think it's planned, just one day it happens. i love little pet names, so whenever it feels comfortable and just slips out, then it's a good time.

I use them in everyday speach also. I've offended people unintentionally. I have a bad habit of calling everyone "hun". LOL, never call a dominant personality hun.
