ToGiveDivine -> Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:03:32 AM)

I've noticed a trend where some people start posts that appear as a complaint, but really look like a way to get attention

Dommes wanting too much respect

Its not always the subs fault

Respected Profile?

Do you believe that dominance gives one the right to be selfish?

I could go on, but we've all seen these posts ... mean Dommes, scary Doms, rude subs, Pro-Dommes, etc.

Wouldn't it be better to just take these posts for what they are and collectively ignore them?

I'm interested in getting information and insight into the lifestyle from this forum, but too often conversations deteriorate into "bash and defense".

These seem more like Off Topic Discussions than General BDSM questions.  I thought this forum would be more help, but it's just not all that helpful anymore.

As for those people that like to interject their humorous comments - thank you, we all need a good laugh.

I am foremost among attention seekers, where do you want me to stand?

Ron

Fitznicely -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:07:42 AM)

These things will pass.

On a mock sarcastic note, thanks for adding another complaining thread to the mix [:D]

Seems by your own standard, this thread should go in off topics, too!  [;)]

LaTigresse -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:09:45 AM)

Oh good god don't forget the territorial one!!!!!! That had to be my favourite "most bizzare thread" of my week.

Some day I just sit here and laugh so damned hard. Unfortunately it is not usually over the really good stuff that was supposed to be funny, but over the sublime weirdness that seems to exist in the parallel universe or something.

Lorelei115 -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:10:28 AM)

I heard people were getting paid attention to over here?? Where do I sign up?

Mikal -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:11:48 AM)

PASS?!?!?!?! Then how am I supposed to get attention??? *stomps foot & pouts*

Seriously though, such posts to have some merit... they let people see how others interact & the level of emotional maturity present... and those posts make the nuts in my life look pretty good. Puhleeeeeeeeeze don't take that away!!! *sniffles* I like not having the nuttiest aquantances... [:D]

amlonging -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:18:51 AM)

Aside from what others have just said,  you must remember that this is a place where humans beings feel free to say what is on their mind...not necesarrily seeking attention.  I started on forums about 5 years ago on various sites and this happens everywhere. Some posters I have strong feelings about and I many times timesjust choose not read their input.
On the other hand, one poster on this site, who I did have strong negative feelings about, I have come to appreciate their input.
Think of it as a cocktail party with everyone in their lifestyle "outfits" and smile.

I wondered how long someone would recognize what you pointed out - you win LOL.

This may get moved by the moderators, but I hope they start moving the other ones I mentioned as well (and any new ones that spring up)

RedSavageSlave -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:21:07 AM)

I am the self proclaimed "Attention Whore Extraordinaire" ... I make no apologies for this and stand completely unashamed~

<grins>

Lorelei115 -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:22:52 AM)

We should make a club! Attention Seekers Society!

Of course the acronym would be "ASS". But I'm okay with that.

LaTigresse -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:23:10 AM)

I have found in life that some attention is, simply faaaaaaaaaabulous, and then there is another sort that I prefer to avoid.

It's like raaaiiinnn on your weddding day....

RedSavageSlave -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:32:59 AM)

Attention Seekers Society is never involved (with) negative energy .....

That could be our motto but then it would be ASSININE

Which would be bad because the word is "asinine"...unless the bad spelling was meant to attract MORE attention, in which case carry on!

Lorelei115 -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 8:36:32 AM)

Oh and, And the Attention Seekers Society is Extra Special.

ASSES.

Just like with your post, its all a matter of choice.  You can choose to skip over them and move on; choosing to read and respond to only those posts which you find of interest and meet your personal needs for information and insight.  My 2 cents for the day. [:D]

Mavis -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 9:00:14 AM)

i'm not sure the tread aobut the right to be selfish belongs in this category... it was a fairly straightforward discussion about what "rights" are assumed and taken..  it wasn't about the poster in particular,  was more of a general how does the collective feel about such n so.

but there sure are a lot of posts that are designed more to get people to check thier profiles, guerilla marketing i guess.

Lmao. Always love the sarcasm in here.

Aileen68 -> RE: Attention Seekers (10/30/2006 9:11:44 AM)

So your negative post about other negative posts, according to math, would then become a positive post, huh?
Negative x negative = positive.
How nice...a positive, negative post.
