Hi Rule When the high P readings came through, the explanations were either a tumour or the effect of the HRT. We stopped the HRT (but continued with androgen suppressent) for two weeks and took another test, which showed normal, indicating we hope, that the HRT was causing it, rather than a tumour. I have no record of blood tests prior to HRT with which to compare unfortunately, though the Charing Cross clinic took one at my first appointment there - I would guess to establish normality and identify anything else going on that was not apparent, including whether or not I was taking HRT on the black market, which they are very aware of as a factor in treatment. As usual in the UK though, I was never privy to the results! It would be interesting to establish all this though, as even before HRT I had some female features - notably lack of musculature, lack of body hair (esp on the chest!), lack of what I call "man smell" (sorry!), very female hair (according to three hairdressers at least), and to my mind at least an at best neutral facial bone structure which of course is very handy for passing as female now. Even my voice therapist told me that doing a male voice was damaging my voice box as I was clearly trying to speak too low for its structure. I get shouted down when I suggest that there may be two types of m2f TS people, but its something I've observed; type 1 are like me, they have female/neutral appearance to start with and pass easily, whilst type 2 are those with just as strong conviction about their identity, but who have the full male appearance and have problems. I am very interested in why this would be, as to my mind it can only be something hormonal that results in a lack of or hindrance to the normal changes which boys go through at puberty which makes them into men. Sure, I had the most basic developments of male puberty, but a lot seemed to pass me by - for which I'm grateful. Meanwhile my younger brothers (all adult) are definitely men - theyre bigger than me all over, and have the features I lacked, whilst I seem to be some sort of inbetweenie between them and my sisters. In addition to those physical differences, I was also always a girl in my behaviour etc. I didnt play with Barbie or dress up or anything, but there was a marked difference between me and my brothers right from the start. They'd be doing boy things and I wouldnt. My dad called me Mary to try to prompt me into changing my ways through ridicule - you get the idea!? Its all fascinating stuff - any thoughts? E
