I noticed that there were some real life animal trainers here, and a lot of experienced dommes.  I am considering a submissive who has a Puppy Boy Fetish...any training and/or scene suggestions?  I have not worked with this scenario before.

I recently attended an event where the first so many registrants received a DVD about puppy play, and I got the last one! But I haven't seen it yet ;-)

From what I have gathered about animal play in general (pony play is another common one) is that this play can have two approaches.

The first approach is more along the lines of D/s or SM where a human is treated as an animal for reasons of power exchange or humiliation.

The second approach is more of a fetish. I think the fetish approach is the one that makes a more elaborate attempt to become the animal via costume clothing and acting the role of the animal (abandoning language in favor of animal sounds, playing with other puppies or ponies). I recall one conversation with a woman into pony play where her description of how she felt seemed meditative in a way--it escaped the human reality and existence and created an alternate space where she almost would forget (either forget or struggle with) the use of words.

So it might be good to understand what about puppy play he enjoys.

My approach to puppy play is more playful.  Think of what you would do when playing with a new puppy.  Get some treats, get some squeaky toys, do a lot of cooing and throwing and fetching, tug of war, etc.  Train on some basic commands...sit, stay, etc.  Give treats for good behavior.  You can make little cookies and cut them into bone shapes.  Be firm but not harsh.  Depending on how far you want to take it you can do paper training, kennel training, etc.  The puppy may nuzzle your hand with his nose to get your attention.  Pet him.  There's a site that has some good puppy training things on it, I'll have to find it.  I think it's more geared to gay males but it used tohave some good ideas.  I'll try to find it for you

When I had wretch here and put him in a bridle, it prevented him speaking (because of the bit) and I made him have to neigh and snort for attention, and I did the whole oats and sugar lumps routine. For the oats I used muesli bars broken up - along with some water in a "trough" (old butter carton) as that can be dry. I also hitched the bridle over a hook, just like one would with a real pony, and left him there a while on his own. From what I observed from his reactions, it all worked out very well for him! If I ever do it again, I might try some form of restraint that would prevent him (well, not that particular wretch, but another) moving except on all fours, just to reinforce the whole thing.

I know its not puppy training, but maybe some prompts in there for some ideas? You could feed him dogmeat of course (I believe its safe for human consumption, but honestly I wouldnt eat it!) - but as a can of stewing steak or something. Whats important I found, going off the pony play above, is that he believes its dog food, and so on.

I think a lot depends on what approach you're going for. The more playful side of it or the intense, full immersion.
 
For immersion you need to think about things such as binding hands to not be used except as paws and the possibility of "locking" them into a kneeling position so that they can't straighten. There are harnesses you can make or buy for this. Do you plan to make/buy them a full harness or merely restrict speech to only that which a canine is capable of?
 
You might want to think about sleeping arrangements, if you'll be crating them or not, and what you will be feeding him while he is acting as a puppy. Remember that, like with tall breeds, a raised bowl will help with digestion and save from problems with swallowing and you can either use a raised platform or buy the raised bowls made for dogs. Oh, if not using a made for dog bowl system, think about investing in nonslip bowls or padding beneath it unless you want to watch them struggle with it sliding all over the floor as they eat and drink.

I have done some puppy play,its been light for the most part.
Collar and leash,teaching tricks,sit,beg stay.I found these grahm crackers,called Scooby Snacks...they are shaped like dog bones,I use them for a reward,then
I have a couple squeaky dog toys,to play fetch with.

I have a kitty too,he wears a head band with kitty ears and a tail that ties on,I also have a furry collar for kitten.The kitty play has been really cool,not having anything to go by,I treat kitten like I do My real cats,he curls up on the couch or in the sun,with the other cats,tries to purr(lol) being a kitty is more mellow to Me and it definitely fits this persons personality to be a kitten rather than a dog or pony.Does anyone else have a kitty rather than a puppy or pony?

The lil bit of pony play has been using reins and a riding crop dressed in costume with sharp heeled boots for the spur effect.Pony play is hard as I dont have a lot of space to ride.


I think with this type of play a good imagination or ability to get into character if you will can really enhance and make the scene.

Personally, I reccomend housebreaking.  I am not, and I pity the Lady who takes me on first.

Next, maybe the right rhythm for leg humping.

Really, it's up to you, but mostly, it involves a lot of putting down towels on the couches.

Do you like to chase the light on the floor too??
I like using My kitten as a foot warmer...he lays on the floor and I have My feet under him.

Whenever I start a submissive on puppy training, I make sure first of all that I have everything that I need-collar and leash, dog food and water bowls, puppy training pads,etc. I'll practice him by walking him on all fours by collar and leash. Teach him basic commands to start off with such as sit on his hunches, heel, "stand", come, and stay.I'll teach him that he is to only eat out of his food and dog bowl, and when I am sitting at the table, he is to lie under my feet and stay. He is not allowed onto the furniture but instead liying down at my feet. Hopefully this will give you some ideas of how to start. Good luck with it
