Lashra, I use the same products, from the same seller.  I prefer the ones with the zippers to the ones with the grommets, but I've had lots of use out of each of mine with never a problem.

So, for everyone that uses Alter-Ego, how durable is their stuff? And how true to size?

Mistress Pandora, I seem to be shaped similiarly to you. I have a 44-46D cup size but I know that waist size is more important. My jean size is a 26-28 closer to the 26 size with a waist measurement of (hang on grabbing tape) of around a 52. My utilikilt is a 54 and the fat fold just above that is a few inches bigger. The size 54 crappy japanese intimate apparels corset I used to wear with the plastic boning would dig into the top of my bottom and would snap in that fold. I think mainly because I am short. (5'3" on a good day)

Short of ordering a custom stormy which I just can't afford right now what size alter ego should I be looking at? And any styles that would look better than others?

angelspassion4u -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/11/2006 11:08:13 AM)

I would love to have a corset but my problem is I am very short waisted. I am also allergic to lace unless its made out of 100% cotton. I am also maily pair shape so most of weight sits from the waist to my knees. Is there any place I might be able to find one  or would I have to have it special ordered? [sm=flying.gif]

mugwump -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/12/2006 1:48:35 AM)

Just a quick heads up for the australian company gallery serpentine.
I ordered my very first corset from there which was a custom size as i'm a bit disproportionate bust to hips (there are 2 GS pics in my profile). Their service was quick, the sizing exactly what i asked for and the end product is still going strong almost 4 years later, IMO still as beautiful as when i first unwrapped it. On top of that they are incredibly reasonably priced, my custom overbust was, at the time, just over £80 - not quite sure what that is in dollars, about $140 at a guess.

they also do longline versions of their corsets which would suit what you want more closely i think.
Happy hunting!

Re alter ego -- Drop her a line with your natural measurements and ask.  She'll suggest sizes and styles that are right for you, or offer to make something custom.  I can't say for certain because I've had three of her garments, and have worn three different measurements for each -- the patterns don't seem all that consistent -- however, she is good with making exchanges!

BootBlackBlast -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/13/2006 7:37:26 PM)

So, I went with this one...

And I have plans to get a few more in the near future...

Not alot of corsets as a standard have lace.

(Ian has lace on some of his garments, but not all of them have lace!)

medievalwench -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/21/2006 2:21:09 PM)

i just recieved my order from Alter ego and i love it, its my first leather corset and fits perfectly, its plain with a zip front and shoulder straps. it arrived in the UK really fast and only cost about £90 including p&p, so i'm really happy, Master loves it too,
i'm short waisted and have a large bust compared to my waist and i found that other corsets i've tried flattened my bust and didn't look right, they made me look a funny shape - so its good to have an overbust as i have underbust ones and had really resigned myself to only buying them.

Hisgirlforever -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/21/2006 3:52:42 PM)

Thanks for the update on your corset medivalwench.  I want a corset so badly, I will have to show Daddy Alter ego when he comes home :)

I also wanted to say that MisPandora you look so nice in your corset and being a curvy girl myself and seeing how beautiful you look makes me want to wear a corset too.  I always thought it was something I would have to be at my "goal weight" to wear.  Thank you

medievalwench -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/21/2006 4:08:58 PM)

i feel the same way, MisPandora looks fantastic and Her site is totally inspiring.

Master says He has put Alter Ego in His favourite shops on His ebay, i think He really likes how i look in this corset <g>.

Thanks.  No, for goodness sake, don't wait!  Actually, a corset helps me through those days where I'm not exactly feeling all that beautiful.  It never fails that I receive tons of compliments -- men, women, whomever....  I have a robust collection of them, in a variety of sizes that cover the gamut of my size changes over the years :-)

Missokyst -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/21/2006 8:22:25 PM)

I probably have 5 corsets from Alter-ego, and I love them.  I HAD 10 but my toy bag was stolen and my favorite 5 went bye bye.
I seriously recommend you measure yourself accurately.  Alter-ego sizes are meant to trim some inches.  Expect to be tightly laced.

defiantbadgirl -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/21/2006 8:37:32 PM)

Does anyone know if combining a corset with regular exercise gets faster slimming results than exercise alone? (I don't mean wearing the corset while exercising, just all the time when not exercising or bathing)

missjada -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/21/2006 8:42:45 PM)

I absolutely love alter ego on ebay!
The corset I am wearing in my photo is from their store!

It makes your body change shape, certainly, if worn routinely (not while exercising, you will run out of breath!).  However, you will not lose weight or "slim down" any faster - you are just redistributing existing content.  But, redistribution can be beautiful!

empresschaos -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/21/2006 9:07:05 PM)

Ha! I was totally going to post the Alter Ego Erotics link, too! :)

I <3 Ebay! Cheap bondage gear to be found around there, too!

BootBlackBlast -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/21/2006 11:37:26 PM)

My corset came the other day and I totally love it. Wore it to Mr. Russian River Leather contest and even bootblacked in it for a bit. Time to wash and condition it with some Huberd's. Just wish I had some Aussie.

OMG please don't!
Overconditioning a leather corset, especially very light deerskin (what AE uses) is really not best for the structure of the garment -- especially not with Huberds intended for oiltans!  I'd be using Fiebings lotion, or the little bottle of Obenaufs lotion (that junk that smells like wheat bread.....)

Here's good advice:
-- Stormy recommends recon every 6-9 months.
-- Dark Garden recommends "occasionally" or "as needed", being sure not to wet the leather because of the steel boning.
"Keep your Leather Corset supple by treating it with a leather conditioner.  Take the worn garment to a trusted leather drycleaner about once a year. Always make leather professionals aware this is a steel boned garment."

iheartgagballs -> RE: Corsets for overweight women (11/22/2006 7:00:59 PM)
