Is that how those things work?  My main defense against getting another motherboard fried is just complete paranoia about links in general.

Slightly off-topic--would anyone know how to get back onto my account once it has been phished? Apparently mine has...and yahoo is being of no help and there are people I NEED to speak to on my messenger. Ah I wish I would have read this beforehand.

Ok, I'll admit it I'm completely lost.....

what the heck is a  phishing  site?

stef -> RE: I found the pic of my X (11/10/2006 6:37:57 AM)

It's using a fake website that masquerades as a genuine site (like Yahoo or a bank) in order to get you to enter your username and password.  When you do, that information is sent to a third party who will change the password and steal the account from you.  You can read more here.

Well that's just rude. [>:]  I've gotten e-mails from supposed companies asking me to verify my password but i never do. Common sense being what it is and all. *S*

thanks for the info stef, muchly appreciated [:)]

Unfortunately I think you are SOL.  This happened to me a long time ago under different curcumstances.  Yahoo had no way to verify ownership and thus the protection of your account is in your own hands.  Sorry that happened to you

Try the "reset my password" function for starters
