You're overinvesting. If you have a nice conversation with someone it is no different than if you get to talking for a few minutes with the person behind you in the Starbucks line. Maybe if you're both drinking your coffee there you might sit together and continue your conversation. If you're lucky and you see this person again a few days later they might remember you and say hello in return to your smile. If they don't remember you it does not negate the fact that you still had a nice conversation. They don't owe you anything nor do they suddenly have the responsibility to be there every morning at 6:37 in order to continue the conversation. You had a nice conversation, tell them and thank them. If you have another, great, do the same. But you don't expect to be engaged at the end of one conversation. Until someone says, "I have to go now but I want to keep talking to you, when are you available" and the other answers "tomorrow night about 10 - 10:30" nothing is owed. You don't expect the person you talked to in Starbucks to show up at your door Friday night for a date unless you discuss it. Same rules of behavior apply online.
