LadyEllen -> yet another crossdressing thread (11/5/2006 7:50:17 AM)

I wondered how crossdressers who dont presently venture out of their house or a club would react, should for some reason, sharia law be strictly enforced in our culture, and all women had to wear a burkha, so that the burkha was the only thing one ever saw women wearing?

(NB its a hypothetical OK?)

Would you
1) continue as now regardless in private with western female clothing, or
2) take the opportunity to go out, concealed by the burkha, but appearing to be a woman in it, or
3) abandon the whole thing, or
4) adopt the burkha for your private crossdressing as it is female clothing in this scenario after all?

Also, why would you choose the option you selected?

E

I wouldn't be doing any of the above.

But #3 would be my only option.....

I would be joining the massive protests that would result out of such ridiculous, antiquated, patriarchal laws.

Uhhh, I think you are sorta missing something here, Sissify.  Since Sharia Law is "God's" Law you would be protesting "God" and executed promptly and horribly.

Now aren't you glad you live in a country where that is illegal?  Even if Republicans get to be in charge once in a while?

sissifytoserve -> RE: yet another crossdressing thread (11/5/2006 9:40:10 AM)

Yes I do....but some people in other countries disagree with that...because of their religion...and thats fine by me....we shouldn't go to WAR over it.

Some people WANT a strict Islamic republic.

But not in my country....where all religions are welcome.

I think women and men should be able to wear whatever they want.

BTW.....the founding fathers assured that I had constitutional freedom.....not present day..war mongering, anti-freedom,
pro-corporate law, hypocritical republicans.

I think the Neoconservatives are going to roll out Bin Laden...one more time right before the elections...you watch.

Got to get the FEAR VOTE factor involved.

I am fairly apolitical and becoming more so all the time - I don't care who is in office because I really don't think it matters in the grand scheme of things. Half of the country will be happy, half will not, and all in varying degrees of such. However, I must point out that republicans are not even close to the only hypocritical party. (I am not republican. Or democrat. Or libertarian. Just for the record.) Political parties are made up of people, and what do people tend to do? People tend to do what is best for themselves, which makes us all hypocritical (and as with happiness or unhappiness, we are in varying degrees of hypocrisy at various times).

So..are you an anarchist?

Anarchy is not possible in a large complex society...only in small groups.

I'm a constitutionalist.

"So..are you an anarchist?

...why the need to apply a label to someone's stated position? What use is that?

sissifytoserve -> RE: yet another crossdressing thread (11/5/2006 12:36:49 PM)

Well...its either you are political..or not.

If you aren't political....you don't subscibe to any political party.

If you are political....you have to subscribe to some party affiliation.

LadyEllen -> RE: yet another crossdressing thread (11/5/2006 12:47:35 PM)

why does one have to subscribe to some party affiliation, if one is political?

You don't TRULY have to....but in order to have any effect in the game.....it might be a good idea.

Thats reality.

But getting back...on topic......

Regarding the sharia law thing... I believe I would try to live as a drag king. No hajib or "women's" clothing for me. Except in the privacy of my own home (assuming such privacy would still exist), and then only in the form of lingerie.[:)]

sissifytoserve -> RE: yet another crossdressing thread (11/5/2006 1:04:56 PM)

Lol....sounds like how i live my life now.

LotusSong -> RE: yet another crossdressing thread (11/5/2006 6:30:00 PM)

I'd suggest a burka with a bazooka hidden underneath.
