How many U.S. citizens actually oppose "freedom, justice and equality"? Wouldn't such a person have to be anti-american? If the question hinges on the method (i.e. "by any means necessary") then I still support "freedom, justice and equality" despite the possible necessity of bloodshed. No one wants that, but if push comes to shove... We are discussing the vote here. Voting and jury duty are the final checks in the balance of power within the U.S. Turn the vote into a joke and we have a real problem. FWIW, the election more or less went my way but I still remain concerned at the numerous failures documented on electronic voting and the many illegal "discourage the vote" practices put into effect by the ReThugs. That kind of shit has got to end.

I don't and haven't commented against the war in Afganistan, I don't like the way it is being run, but......it ain't the same thing going on in Iraq.......although I am not opposed to anyone bringing me the head of Osama Bin Laden--- I am not a pacificst or anti-warrian. Hell, how could I be? The thing is, people who don't vote are just as valid as people who do...... and rightly so...... Because I will agree with caitly wholeheartedly in this matter (gawd, I hope she don't read this) that you have elected your government, and that is the american way (although she may not know she is saying that so I may be off the hook) but you have now formed an electorate that interprets your vote in the upcoming election, no mor and no less, your fuckin' vote don't count, anymore than a stop sign means more than a suggestion in Boston. Gore wins the popular vote, what the hell is that but the will of the people? and bush is elected because he has convictions....what messages you are sending to the voters, is not your personal vote so much as an indication of lefting, righting, or centering. mnottertail: The symbolic importance of the vote is hugely important. Representative government is a pickle no matter what we try to do with it. Some people dispute the electoral college, others support it. Jury duty/nullification is another important topic.
