Alright, here goes.

I remember vividly being about five years old, and my mother telling me how to put the pasta in the boiling water. Her exact words were "one day, your wife is going to THANK me for teaching you how to cook!" I don't think I had ever been so terrified, so all I could do was nod my head and say "ok mom"

Since then, from first my mother, then a vast array of part time fast food and resturant jobs, I can cook just about anything from pancakes, waffles, sausage, and omelettes in the morning, to fantastic pastas, steaks and chicken of all kinds in the oven or on the grill, to stunning salads and desserts fattening enough to tempt a anorexic into becoming a cow. I LOVE to cook as an adult, and have not had a girlfriend cook for me in well over five years. I am slowly showing my current girl how to make some of the things I love, but it's a rather slow process - so far she can only make the coffee and toast up to my standards. My hope is that in two years, we'll be trading cooking every other night, but there's no rush.

Maybe we should start a recipe thread on the off topic board....

Stephan

I DO THE COOKING!

Cutting, tenderizing, flavoring, starting fires, and eating are things I like to do. Oh my, you just made me realize that I treat my subs like I treat my food. Fresh, home made, and never bought. Thanks for pointing this out to me Darth. I never thought of it.

I started one over the holidays Stephan. Fabulous recipes shared from everyone. Not a bad one in the bunch.

I really enjoy the peace I get from cooking. I can't really contribute to a recipe thread, as I don't keep track of how much of one thing or another I add to a particular item, so nothing is ever cooked exactly the same way twice.. I guess my recipe for Chicken Picatta would look something like this.

Chicken breasts, skinless cut into medium pieces
Dust with flour

in a large saucepan, heat up some garlic, lemon juice, butter and white wine.
simmer chicken until done.

Serve with warm crusted bread. and salad. Sauce is great for dipping bread into.

I am not as strict as to who can cook in the kitchen but I personally enjoy preparing certain meals for my sub. Depending on the circumstance, it can be very spiritual, definitely ritual and occassionally sensual!
