September 24, 1992 the Sci- Fi channel began to air on tv...What is your favorite Sci-Fi show?  I remember when they use to show "Tales From The Darkside" and "Tales From The Crypt" two of my favorites. of course "Twilight Zone"

Heck, I remember watching Tales From the Darkside on network TV all dem years ago (channel 11 I think).

Sci-Fi recently ran a marathon and I caught my favorite episode!  Where the grandfather was too stubborn to realize he was dead.

Lo and behold, who played the very young teenage son?  Christian Slater!  And the guy who later played Data on Stra Trek TNG was a young unknown playing a preacher!

You mean the old series?  That's one's the best!  I am not much of a sci-fi geek .... but gimmie ol' Trek over any of it's weak later incarnations.

Sci Fi lets me down with the good horror movies though..During the Halloween season I watched mostly other channels who offered a series of good horror flicks in a row....

Sadly,  SciFi Channel now has as much in common with science fiction as Mtv has in common with music.

It USED to be a great channel.

Hell,  I remember when they would show "One Step Beyond",  "Lights Out!" and Boris Karloff's "Thriller".  Now THOSE were shows.

Well, it *IS* the sci-fi channel, not the horror channel.  Very few films cross both genres with true balance ... and 'giant creature' horror films lend themselves to the notion of sci-fi more easily than a ghost story.

I will cast my vote for "Alien" (the first one) to be one of the few balanced 'horror/sci-fi' films.

I LOVED Tales from the Crypt! I used to beg my mom to let me stay up late and watch it when I was in school. *grin* Great fodder for growing young minds. Also quite possibly the reason I still like puns.

I agree with the Aliens vote, too. I admit it! I saw Alien vs Predator! And yes, I liked it, in a kind of goofy, eye candy-ish sort of way.
