I think alot of my personaltiy gets lost here..I seem to come across as Mother Teresa....Which I am not.  [:D]

You?  Flirt?  Nooooooo....

I am just me and no i don't think i am seen here for who i really am and i also don't think it is necessary for me to be seen that way.  I get information here, hope i share some, and don't forget some good ole criticism tossed in for good measure.  I am sad and happy and so many emotions thrown together at times that really i guess it doesn't make a difference how i am seen by others because i don't really believe any two posts are the same unless made within say 2 minutes of each other.  Dang i love being post menopausal it is a good excuse for not giving a care when others don't see life the way i do.

I do not know.  I know I come across as a jerk.  And that is fine by Me.  I never started out to win any People awards.  But still, that is not who I am at all.  I am actually one of the nicest people you could meet, unless you cross My wires of course.  As a rule I am very gentle.

But, on here, no, I come across completely the wrong way.  I am not sure how much of it is the medium and how much of it is My presentation, but in the frame of mind I am in, it ranks extremely low on the priority list.  Actually, posting at all is a huge effort and also ranks extremely low, which is why you do not see Me around.

Probably the most 'missing in action' part of my personality on here is that I'm a compulsive teacher.  My style of communication is very much the same (though I curse much more fluently and frequently in person), but I'm constructive with it.

If that makes me sound like an arrogant English tosser then good because that is exactly what I am

Well the accent certainly comes through loud and clear to me :)

caitlyn -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 8:12:23 PM)

Well ... LaM dropped these two bombs on me not long ago:

"Caitlyn, if you want to understand why people think of you as an uppity college student who thinks she knows everything and really doesn't know anything, just take this statement to one of your economics professors and ask him to explain to you why it's wrong."

"I took the liberty of pointing this out because it's typical of caitlyn; she has this habit of concocting grand and utterly unrealistic programs for the reformation of all mankind, and then criticizes other people for failing to offer "solutions."  I regret that many people will agree with me when I say that she needs to learn a lot more about how the world works before she takes up the pretense that she can solve the world's problems and everyone else is a dumass."

And philosophy actually called me a fascist.

So, my guess is that the better parts of a person are lost. [;)]

Lordandmaster -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 8:20:18 PM)

Well, did you ever take that statement to your economics professor?  I'm curious to hear what he had to say about it.  I think you were claiming that it's cheaper for an employer to offer workers health insurance than to ship parts to Mexico, right?

Edited to add: The "I regret" sentence was a little pompous; otherwise it was dead on, kiddo.

caitlyn -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 8:44:38 PM)

It's a flawed question. You went into Mr. Snarky mode so fast, you closed any further discussion.

The equation isn't: cost for shipping to Mexico vs. cost for providing health insurance

The correct equation is: cost for shipping to Mexico + cost of providing free benefits to illegals vs. cost of providng heath insurance.

Devilslilsister -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 8:46:02 PM)

Very much so Erin.  I'm absolutely postive the "me" gets lost here.  I dont really bother too much about it though.  I come for information, to share, to learn things and who i am isnt really apart of all that.  i'm sure some of it comes out, of course.

Heck, i dont even think my school mates get who i am.  Parts of it of course.. but think we share different parts of us in different places

Lordandmaster -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 8:47:21 PM)

That's not what you said, and anyway it's still cheaper.

Anyway, what are we arguing about?  You bring this shit up like every day now.  It's like we're married.

Edited to add: If I apologize, do we get make-up sex?

Devilslilsister -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 8:52:19 PM)

i could probably figure out how i come off on the boards and how it compares to me in life as i do have friends that are dominants that i know in real life that read my posts.  I could probably ask them too.  Doubt i'm going too.

caitlyn - if i were you, i'd worry about the big elephant penis.

caitlyn -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 9:08:44 PM)

Yeah ... the elephant penis is probably an issue. [;)]

It's curved so as to hit the G-spot, you know.  You may have missed that little discussion when you were in your self-imposed exile.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 10:24:56 PM)

Fast Reply:

I really have no idea how I come across.  I suppose to some I'm kind and to others I'm bitchy.  I think elements of us definitely don't come through on discussion boards.  I know that's the case with me as I reserve the intimate parts of me for those who are close to me. Usually when I talk to someone one-on-one I get to know and see him/her on a much deeper level.  The boards are much less personal.

slavejali -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 11:31:15 PM)

I've got no clue how I come across on here, I've never really thought about it.

Topic made me think though, with all these people saying they don't come across as they really are its no wonder so many internet RL meets don't work out hey [;)]

BitaTruble -> RE: Does "who you are" get lost in the translation here? (11/13/2006 11:43:22 PM)

Well, like most people, what I am contains all the usual human foibles, imperfections, ineptitudes and occasional flashes of utter brillance that most everyone else has, so regardless of how I'm viewed, it's probably going to be both accurate to an extent and inaccurate to an extent. On any given day hormones, menopause or even low blood sugar can alter my sweet, kind, generous self and change me into a evil, mean, nasty, vicious bitch. But, yanno.. ya plays, ya pays. ::chuckles::

PS: I'm meeting ownedgirlie in just about a month, so I'll come back and give ya all the scoop on her. [8D]

PS part 2: Oh.. I don't know if anyone would actually be able to tell this on the forums, but I talk.. a lot.. in r/l. Himself said that gags were invented for people like me, but yanno, I just have such a talented mouth, it seems a shame to gag it for any reason. [8D]
