i am looking for plans on building a st andrews cross and other furtinure for the lifestyle...any input would be grateful

I would check out sartanworkshop and I am not sure the web url is. Go to google and do a google search for sartan. :) They got some great plans for alot of stuff you can make. :)

They don't have plans for that (IRRC). Cuffs/collars/remote controlled vibrators, but not a cross.

Suggestion: Think of a cross that the Romans used to crucify Jesus. I know, I know, but that's the style that most talk about. Use 2x4s to make it, and where the two cross over each other, use bolts in an "X" shape, 5 of them. Add aditional 2x4s to the back of the arm piece, and to the front of the vertical piece so that they are 4x4 in those areas and 2x4 in the areas where they cross. They shold all be the same thickness now. Mount this on a platform and brace it against the wall, leaning slightly. Add attachment points for wrists, neck, ankles, probably for waist, knees and elbows as well.

If you need straps or belts or whatever, you can probably get them inexpensively at various places, or buy them from a supplier of bondage restraints like me. I won't ruin you with expense.

You may also wish to wrap the whole thing in padding of some sort to cushon things I could suggest carpet padding and some dark cotton fabric.

I don't think this design would work very well. A St. Andrews cross is like a large X. The style described here would have the sub's face right up against the vertical bar. This could be dangerous not to mention uncomfortable. Also, it seems that to secure the ankles the legs would be closed on this style. Or did I just read all of this wrong?

No, you didn't read it wrong, but the top piece could be shortened to make it a chin rest instead of crushing it againt the wood.

Plus, you could just use a spreader bar attached to the bottom which would keep the legs apart, or get rid of the bar to keep the legs together.

I build bondage furniture .. and here is a picture of one of My St. Andrews ... it is also collapsible for storage and transport. It can assembnle in under 5 mins.

I built a very nice st andrew's cross from 2-8ft 4x4 set circular saw to cut thru half way and lay them out so they will be 32" wide centers at the top. this way when you lean them up to wall they will hit 2 wall studs and can be screwed in to hold solid. After the 2 interlocking cuts are made drill 2 3/8" holes in middle and put carrage bolts to hold together. when all built set against wall and mark bottom of posts to cut so they sit flat and the taper at the top so it lays flat to wall this may take several cuts to get right.
add as many rings along sides and top and bottom as desired. mine took 1 hour to complete and slave really likes the width of the 4x4 to rest her head against. W/we have used several at dungeons and they are usually made out of 2x6 and she says it hurts to rest on them.

The 4x4 cut in half is a good idea .. but the same size can be had by using a 2x8 , this also saves times by having less cutting

JUst finish building A St Andrews Cross for My Mistresses

4= 8'x6"x2" oak boards take 2 of the boards lay them on top of each other square them up pefectly all the way around drill a 1/2 hole dead center 4' and 3" through both boards temperarly with boards still together slid bolt through hole

spread boards to the desired spread take pencil and scribe along the board on top flip it over and do the same on the other side

take the other two boards and repeat the same way

the first set take to a miter saw and cut along the lines when through you will have 4 pieces and 2 diamon pieces the diamon pieces and scrape

go back to the second set with the bolt still in the center spread the boards apart and use the 4 pieces to fill in the low spots so that it will be flush

at this point you can screw, glue, bolt, nail, the 4 pieces ( I glued)

then if you want use a wing nut then you can loosen it and fold it in half if needed

loosen the wing nut spead it open tighten the wing nut and there you go

When I made mine, I made sure that the length between the 2 top ends lined up with studs in the wall. After it was built, I attached hinges to both tops and bottoms, set it at a slight angle, and ran 3" screws thru the hinges to the wall studs and floor. It's been in the same spot for 6 years and hasn't budged...though she has managed to somehow wiggle a screw or 2 loose a time or 2 lol. I used spray adhesive to attach foam to the front of the cross, then covered it in black faux leather with chrome upholstry tacks...love the look.
