Woo hoo!!!...my favorite movie of 2006 V for Vendetta is going to have a sequel made...apparently.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news06/060401b.php

"With the Alan Moore graphic novel adaptation "V for Vendetta" having opened well and drawn far less fire from conservatives than expected, Warner Bros. Pictures has decided to move forward with plans for a sequel that takes even riskier steps reports Kayle Ross during the 'Drive Time Movies' segment on Atlanta's WQ8Q-FM."

Bravo Wacowski brothers.

If you were a true Vendetta fan you would not have said "woo-hoo"

Reading the site the premise of the movie sounds good. But there are a few things wrong, Alan Moore would never touch a movie script again no matter what was offered and second check the link at the bottem of the post ( http://www.darkhorizons.com/news06/aprilfool.jpg ), and the date of the post.

Now, now don't spit your dummy out.
No it wasn't over my head - i just found it pointless and irrelevant.
I watched it with a group of friends who all thought the same. In fact i have only heard two people compliment the movie, you and someone in a favourite movies thread. Hey that could have been you too? lol

I think it was 100% reflective of the society we are in/becoming closer and closer to fact than fiction.

But life is good with rose colored glasses I guess.

The problem is that V for Vendetta the movie was not up to par with the graphic novel, and you also have to remember when Alan Moore wrote it.

Ok that is your opinion of the movie - fair play to ya. Someone had to enjoy it.
The gun powder plot and all that crap wasn't interesting the first time around and it just reminded me of that too much.
As for rose coloured glasses - you dont know me - don't judge me as a person.

Natalie Portman ruined that movie with her awful accent, bad acting, and unbelievability... I would love to read the book though, and I got the storyline....

I bet the book is like 100 times better.

Most movies aren't.

I thought the movie was timely inlight of the fact that both the USA and UK governments are teetering precariously toward fascism.

Everyone is so willing to sacrifice liberty for so called "security".

I agree with you sissifytoserve, I saw this in the movie as well. I know alot of people didn't see the correlation between the movie and what is happening in the world today.  What is that V said in his television speech:

"And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent."

Absolutely. And From Hell fell short of doing Moore justice, too.

...the graphic novel is an astonishing piece of work, one of the best pieces of evidence for the argument that 'comics' have evolved to the point of high art. The film, while interesting wasn't quite as good....however, it wasn't bad at all. The central premise of both pieces, the idea that all that evil needs to triumph is for good people to do nothing, would have turned off a lot of viewers. Can't see where a sequel would work though, although a prequel might have some value.

Agreed, philosophy. I've loved comics since I was a kid, and Moore, Miller, Gaiman, Sim, proved long ago that they're not just for kids anymore. I think the west is finally coming around to that idea.

...incidentally......the speech where V takes over the tv station in the novel in quite different to what happens in the film. V takes the role of God coming back to judge humanity on its use or abuse of freedom of choice......not a speech that would have gone down well with studio heads i'd have thought......

My friend is an action movie buff and convinced me to go see V for Vendetta.  We were  both disappointed.  The characters were, for the most part, bland.  The characters were cartoonish, and even the most villianous professional wrestling "heel" isn't as cartonnishly-evil as the Conservative Party was portrayed in this movie.

Let's see...Osam, I mean V, is a hero because he blows up federal buildings for "freedom", and murders members of the Conservative Party.  Perhaps what makes him a hero is that he only uses knives to murder conservatives, because I presume there is gun control.

Alan Moore?!  I thought this movie was directed by Michael Moore...or Noam Chomsky...or Ted Rall.
