cailinTC -> RE: The One? (2/9/2005 7:13:52 AM)

If cailin may, she would like to say a few things that a Ffew have spoken about this subject. First of all, since when did Aanyone in this lifestyle start judging Ppeople. In most cases, cailin has seen that Wwe are the Oones judged and for Ssomeone on here to judge about typing? To this girl that is ridiculous. Just as in anything, if Yyou don't like it, don't pay attention. Master Merc is right. cailin was always lead to believe that this is the most "open-minded" lifestyle that is out there, or should be. cailin was self trained amongst her other sisters about 6 years ago, but of course the training never ends. This way of typing or speaking is not set to be annoying, cailin believes it to be respectful. cailin speaks of herself in third person because she believes that property isn't to speak of itself in first person. If Ssome do not like it, she does not appologize, because it is what pleases Master. Simple as that. If Ssomeone does not wish to read her post, well ok, no biggie, nothing lost. Just because a girl speaks about herself in third person or uses BIG letters and little letters does not mean that she is any less intelligent or has less important things to say. This argument has been going on for years and if it affected cailin in any way, Oone might think that she would have changed the way she spoke or typed, wouldn't Tthey? whew...that is off her chest.

i have been more or less active on many occult forums for years, and belive me there they argue over every littel thing. For example, some feel that pearls, sinse in reality coming from an ingury to an animal and not being a real stone, should not be used for chrystal healing, or for rituals, others feel that it can be used for chrystal healing and rituals and so on, and they argue and agrue. But never have i found so much negativity and judging of others unthil i started to visit BDSM forums. If the Occult comunity is fast on the trigger and judgemental, in my experience, the BDSM comunity is ten times worce.

Pleese note, i am not saying this is aboute all pepole, Occultists or BDSMers, many pepole in thesse comunities are wonderful, i am just talking aboute many pepole.

The part of this I find truly amusing is that this thread was asking opinions of those who did not like something. I answered it.

Do I go stalking people or threads that contain what I do not like? Nope. Did I venture into the thread on Gorean beliefs and say "hey, WTF?". No I stayed out of it because it is not my thing.

Strange that the notion of "pass it by if you do not like it" is only being applied by those who came into a thread that they did not like. Ironic No?

fullokinks -> RE: The One? (2/9/2005 8:09:11 AM)

Nella,

Wow! I asked a simple question! As open-minded as I try to be, there are still things that I struggle with. This post was put up as an inquiry to the collarme community about whether anyone else had the same struggle. I never asked anyone to conform to proper written english, nor do I believe that I said anything derisive about people who chose to write in this way.

Lighten up a little!

Paul

nella -> RE: The One? (2/9/2005 8:38:43 AM)

Forgive me Paul, my post was not directed at you, but was written in respose to the discussion. If you took what i wrote the wrong way, then i am sorry.

darkinshadows -> RE: The One? (2/9/2005 12:55:10 PM)

Lol... I only 'stalk' one person... and its appriciated... [:D]

But in all seriousness, if this is what you define as stalking, then you are dismissing the real 'threat' that some people have to contend with every day. Just a thought...

This is a discussion forum. If a person states a view in such a public forum, then they surely are not expecting everyone to agree with their thoughts? I do not see anywhere that suggests that only certain people can respond to posts. Thats what collarme is all about. And BDSM. Freedom.
I actually quite enjoy a thread like this. It allows a discussion to advance that can show different perspectives from all sides. It is when people are afraid to speak, or do not wish to learn which breeds fear. People attack and ridicule what they fear. They become defensive. A discussion like this allows communication to flourish and a learning process begins. Not everyone may agree, but an understanding brings less judgement.
Communication is the key.

Peace

darkinshadows -> RE: The One? (2/9/2005 1:09:46 PM)

If you only wished to hear responses from people who struggle as you, possibly as a suggestion, you make that clearer in your inital post.

I don't think anyone assumed you were judging. But stating your point of view and observations. This leads to discussion. Personally, I felt a great discussion & post.
This is a general BDSM discussion forum. And its fantastic!
(worshiping bows to the Mods... lol)
[8D] gosh, I am a suckup...

Peace

Wolfspet -> RE: The One? (2/9/2005 1:12:36 PM)

Angel,
My point was that I do not go out of my way to offer my opinion on those things, because usually it is of little consequnce to me. Hence my stalking remark.
Usually I keep my opinions on the netiquette protocols to myself.
Perhaps you have a point though, I counsel quite a few newbies who have gotten the wrong impressions of what BDSM is from reading what I term overromanticized bullshit that is quite prevelent in those who INSIST that these forms of address are the way it should be. So fear of it is a part, not for myelf but for those that are injured in believing that as a submissive/slave they have lesser value as a human.

Now I KNOW not everyone who uses such forms of address feel this way or act in a reprehensible manner, but sadly it happens. Unfortunately I
don't "see" the "good", because they don't seek out counsel.
BDSM on the net is vastly different from BDSM in real time. But again, that is my opinion.

Besides a good debate is the only way we learn right?

darkinshadows -> RE: The One? (2/9/2005 1:50:41 PM)

I agree, a healthy debate is a blessing.

Unfortunately, not everything is perfect for everyone all the time in the world of BDSM. As life in general, there are those that are abusers and the abused. In all lifestyles, in all sections, in all kinks. I believe thats why forums like here are essential. Not everyone agrees, but debate and expression are key. It helps show that people from different sections in a community can learn to understand and develop friendship with those who they wouldn't even acknowledge down the street. It allows people to see that there isnt just 'one true way'... that not all kinksters are identical. That not all feelings are right or wrong, just individual.

(well... No one really thought I would leave a thread
without mentioning individuality, did they?)
[:D]

Peace and Love

You are free to type however you wish, just as I'm free to say it annoys me and skip reading it. While the third person is a little cumbersome for me to read, I can still manage that. However, while I like the fact that you don't insert slashes everywhere (which are extremely difficult to read, especially when there are lots of them), have you considered that a double letter (Tthey, Oour, Wwe, etc.) makes your typing read like a stutter? I'm not trying to be snide here, just pointing out that's how it sounds in my head whenever I read it.

She has a good point there. A note to those who may feel like they're being attacked here: we're criticizing the practice, not the people.

darkinshadows -> RE: The One? (2/10/2005 5:42:52 AM)

I certainly do not feel attacked, so feel there is no need to apologise for such.
I see a healthy discussion which places the explainations of those who are positve and those that are negative in experience. It helps others make up their own minds.
Something that is truely useful.

cailinTC -> RE: The One? (2/12/2005 6:13:05 AM)

Again, if cailin may, she does not feel like she is being attacked either. she really does not care what Ppeople think of her as long as her Master is pleased and she is not making a mockery of Him. That is what matters to her. If Master were to come on here and post something along the lines of..." Do not type in third person", or if He just simply mentioned it one day..anytime of the day, then she would quit. It is all about respect in cailin's eyes. When she speaks this way, she is simply stating that she is speaking with Bboth Dominants and submissives. Plain and simple. Like you said Ojedieu, if you don't like it, don't read it. By the way, cailin does not stutter, if that clears some things up.
