There would'nt be a problem if BA would just ban feminist from flying.

Assclown;
I do not see what this post has to do with feminist or liberals.  The link seems to deal with the assinine policy of BA  formerly known as B O air carriers

Lordandmaster, I have heard Singapore Airlines is very good as is Emirates Air...in Latin America I have to say LAN Chile has fairly modern planes and service is not bad...I also flew in LOT (Polish Airlines) and they were quite good...KLM was pretty good too...Lufthansa was great in the 80's and in the early 90's not sure how they are now. I also had good experiences with Royal Air Maroc.

I have never flown Aeroflot, but have heard stories...same with Air Afrique, and in Latin America, in my opinion among the worst when it comes to service and technology in planes is Aerolineas Argentinas...

I've flown Lufthansa once some years ago and I'd put them on par with KLM but I'd put KLM on par with BA but on the whole I find the flying experience more or less the same. You get on the plane, you sit, some have more leg room for a similar price which is a very big plus but on the whole you are served pre-packed food, watch a film, doze, have a drink, read, doze, eat and get off. What makes a good or bad journey to me is the efficiency of getting through check-in and security and then at the other end getting through customs, picking up ones bag and passport control. For this I find small airports are best but that is not always possible. The bigger the airport the worse this whole experience is but I guess that is not surprising.

I agree with Lufthansa and KLM being similar, and in turn, similar to BA...but in every flight that I have encountered, the food is prepackaged...while some are "tastier" than others, they are all pre-packaged...unless maybe if you fly first class or Business class on a long flight (on short flights the only difference between "economy" and "business" seems to be a silly little dirty curtain, lol)

Speaking of large airports...travelling through Madrid these days with their new airport has been a lousy experience in terms of losing luguage, which the Spaniards have blamed on the "automated system"...

I've driven to Madrid which was a hair raising experience but never flown there. Hell, I love that city. I would hate to have the experience spoilt by an airport.

Feminist have nothing to do with it. I am a feminist and I don't give a shit who sits where as long as they leave me and mine alone. But you can safely blame all the child molesters, forced slavery, rapists, kidnappers etc. for laws such as these. I guess it never occured to the policy makers that some women are also child abusers.Apparently this airline believes that their policy will protect children and who does not want to protect children?

Personally I think this policy is ridiculous if a child's parent is sitting right there with them then no a man should not be asked to move. If the child is flying alone the best thing to do would be to seat the child up near the flight attendant.  I would never put my child on a plane alone if I can't fly with her, she isn't going.

I agree its a dumb policy but unfortnately with the horrors happening to children in the world today we are likely to see more of these policies popping up. Though they should apply to BOTH genders IMO.

So then a minor would have to sit next to ... no one?  Maybe they should just ride on the wing?

Maybe they should be seated next to the flight attendants as I stated further up in the post. They can't sit on the wing, thats where they put all the other deviants.....

Has anyone heard of children being molested on aeroplanes or has this just fallen out of the wide blue sky? My unmentionable has often traveled alone on planes, though not all airlines are accommodating.

meatcleaver, excellent point....was wondering the same thing...have never heard (even as a rumor) that a child has been molested in an airplane...I would think it would be rather difficult to happen since everyone is packed in like sardines (an exaggeration, but you get the meaning, specially in "economy" class), and many non-paedophilic adults would not watch the other way...I am not saying it couldn't happen, but it would be more difficult due to the fact that an airplane flight is so public (which is a good thing in a case like this).

As for Madrid, luckily have been there many times, so the airport experience, I just take it in as a modernity adjustment....they will get it right eventually at Barajas...lol. I much prefer going to Malaga airport, smaller, and only hectic in summer (and still less than Madrid Barajas airport).

I would be offended by this, except I don't want to sit next to kids anyway. So, I'm for it.

My sister lives in the Middle East and she has flown Emirates a few times. She reckons it's a whole different experience in terms of the quality of service. Mind you, as per usual, you have to pay for this extra quality.

Personally, fuck that. Just get me on a plane that will take me where I want to go for as little as possible. I've been to Berlin, Prague, Krakow and Budapest between £45 and £60 return with none of the so-called frills of a bit of extra leg room and a micro-waved meal. That does me just fine - the less you spend on your flight the more you have to spend when you get there. There is no way in this world you could get a British Airways flight to Berlin for less than £150 but then again the BA tail has a Union Jack on so the extra £100 is money well spent for the buy British brigade.

Singapore Airlines is not more expensive than their competition.

Although there will be exceptions to the rule, the cheapest flights to Japan from Britain tend to be Air France and KLM. If you deem these not to be competitors based on their perceived competitive strategy then fair enough. Air France and KLM are neither cost leaders nor competing on quality, they're half-way houses. I've never flown Singapore Airlines but I'm assuming they compete on quality.

In terms of SA flights from the US, I take your word for it.

Yeah, I haven't checked the prices from London.  From the U.S. they're comparable to Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, and so on--and sometimes even cheaper.
