KatyLied:  Mahagonny is about as dark and angsty and bitterly funny as music can get.  It fits right in with the Doors story.  If you've never listened to any Weill/Brecht, get a copy.  The ThreePenny Opera is of course the other great piece to listen to.   And the source of a ton of music for rockers.  Besides "Mack the Knife" which we know everyone has covered, both Tull and Steeleye Span have done great "rock" versions of ThreePenny.

Hold a chicken in the air
Stick a deckchair up your nose
Buy a jumbo jet
And then bury all your clothes
Paint your left knee green
Then extract your wisdom teeth
Form a string quartet
And pretend your name is Keith

B3ecasue it's getting far too cerebral in here.

Well, he took little Suzie to the junior prom;
exciteable boy they all said;
then he raped her and killed her and he took her home;
exciteable boy they all said;
Well, he's just an exciteable boy---
After ten long years they let him out of the home;
exciteable boy they all said;
Then he dug up her grave and built a cage with her bones;
exciteable boy they all said.........
