Alex,
One thing you are forgetting here and you may not even know is most people don't read profiles.  She probably never got to the area where your profile said real life only.
Even if it were in the very first line.  It has happened to all of us more than we can count in the past where someone just does not read at all.

Are you for real? People really do this? I assumed everyone that wasn't a total loser would read someone's profile before getting in touch. How else do people work out who they want to message? This chick reckoned that we both had "similar thoughts on sex and BDSM". Since she hasn't posted on the forums at all where else did she get this idea? Why is she getting in touch with someone in Melbourne when her profile says she lives in England? How do these people work out who they want to message?

There might have to be another topic on this...

:: chuckles :: Welcome to the internet, we get all kinds here.  Unfortunately an alarming percentage of them seem to come from the bottom of the barrel.  Look on the bright side, at least this person seemed to have read your profile.

I've received emails from gay submissive men (I'm straight and not the least interested in gay submissive men).
I've received emails from domme's looking for a submissive (I'm dominant)
I've received emails from married submissive women, even though I state clearly in my profile that is not acceptable to me.
I've received an email from a woman I can only describe as "grossly overweight" (she was literally wider than she was tall), pictured smoking a cigarette (to which I am allergic and state that smoking is a deal breaker), who thought she was perfect for me (who says the universe doesn't have sense of humor).
Just yesterday I received an email from a total stranger informing me I don't know how to spell my own name (and one wonders why this person felt the need to spell check the profile of a total stranger and then say something so pressumptuous.  For the record, my name has at least three common variations I'm aware of:  Padraig, Padriag, and Padraic.  On rarer occasions I've seen it spelled Padraigh.)

And from what I hear from some of my female friends, if you're a woman with an attractive photo you get it ten times worse.  Some days I wonder why any of us are still here (and frequently, I'm not).

Fortunately we're provided with a block feature which comes in quite handy for preventing these illiterate, ill-mannered, ill-advised "admirers" from making the same mistake twice.  In most cases there's not much point in even responding to them, unless you just feel the need to vent a bit.  Best to just move on and find something more enjoyable to spend your time on.

And no, I don't see much signficant difference between cyber and online.  Cyber does carry some sexual connotations for some, but clearly not all (some of us still remember Gibson and the term cyberspace from which cyber is derived).  If she merely wanted a friendly chat, she might have stated such initially and not been pretentious about any misunderstanding.
