OK! This came up in some mail on the other side - not saying from whom. I'm going to phrase it purely about mtf, but ftm contributions are also welcome, as are contributions/comments from everyone else!

Do transgender/transexual women (ie those living 24/7 as women, with or without treatments/surgery etc) get upset if they are lumped in with occasional crossdressers, as fetishists etc?

Also, vice versa - do crossdressers get upset if they are regarded to be "no longer men", because they seek transition to female, for however brief a time, and for however different a motive by comparison to TG/TS women?

And for the rest of you - do you see any difference between TG/TS and CD, and why?

None..i think most of us get demonized regardless...wether you are CD/TV/TS bi/gay/lesbian

Its the "normal"people who do all the finger pointing and commit acts of violence against us.

I personally see a difference... a cross dresser is someone who likes wearing the clothing of the opposite sex. A transgender/sexual is someone who feels as if they are one sex, but stuck in the body of the other sex.

Basically, one dresses for fun & self expression. The other dresses because that is who they fundamentally id as.

All above is my personal opinion... not FACT.

Mikal - pretty much fact, as well as your opinion, as it happens!

Sorry Mikal - the only thing thats baked on this thread is me!

OK - now I'll throw a cat in the pigeons, before I retire to the safe distance of the bath.

I'm TS. I dont like to be associated with CDs and regarded as the same. I simply am not the same. In addition, given the financial expense, personal cost, health risks, extreme pain and difficulty of what I have done in order to feel what I can only describe as normal (whatever that is), I resent in extremis, the idea that I might be seen as the same as some guy who occasionally puts on the frilliest most feminine clothes he can find, in order to feel good. This is half the reason I refuse to register as trans (although its clear in my profile text) - the other reason being that the kind of propositions which such trans registration attracts, without going into detail, are highly inappropriate to me.

Now, I dont dislike CDs, and I dont dislike what they do, per se. I just dont want to be lumped in with them.

At the same time, I recognise from my part time work with the police, that there are some areas on which we can and should and do cooperate for common cause. But then, we also cooperate with gay men, lesbian women, bisexuals and intersexuals for the same reasons. I could be lumped in with any of those categories, but wouldnt be by the majority of society.

So, set the grill to high, and lets feel those flames! (its cold over here right now)

E

I don't think we are as bad as everyone makes us (meaning me = CD/TV) out to be.

I accept your lifestyle and i am a hell of a lot more tolerant than the average straight male or straight female.

You have to wonder sometimes just who really is on your side and who isn't.

Sissify; not as many people as you think make CDs/TVs out to be bad, either you know. Some dont like it, some are neutral, some accept it, some like it.

And as for sides, all I'll say is, that you personally dont make it easy for anyone to be on your side.

The best service I have ever had when six people are sitting in a restaurant, just drinking coffee, was with a cross-dresser at the table.  Our cups never got below half-full, yet strangely, it was a different waitress each time, then the busboys and dishwasher.

Ive known and helped teach several TVs how to pass as female.  With all the work they put into perfecting the look and feel of the "fairer" gender, they did get very upset when their lifestyle was refered to as crossdressing and a fetish.
I have also known fetish crossdressers that were so good at what they did that they were often mistaken for females, and it was assumed they prefer to be female, rather than males with fetishes.
I am not sure exactly what Angel is yet, we havent had enough time to explore.  I know he dresses for me, but we arent sure if it is a festish , or if it could develop into a life change. All in good time, of course.
