I am considering going ProDomme, and was wondering if you had some advice - specifically looking at how to advertise, and specific skills I should have first. Advice on what to look at for the business part would be welcome too.  Thanks

Very good monthly program on becoming a pro or lifestyle. Many things apply to both or not.

I am getting ready to post the 4th installment. I also have a monthly slave training course which dominants should read because it gives you many good ideas. There are some slaves taking it that follow up in the forum so that gives you a chance to hear about thier thoughts and feelings on training.

If you are planning on going pro. I would recommend looking around at the local dungeons in your area. Check them out and see if they have what you need. I would say work at a dungeon because in my opinion it is safer than working out of home. Also, make sure that they are a real dungeon. Many houses of domination have been raided due to solicitation.

Now, I know people who work out of their home and are fine. It is my preferance to work out of a dungeon because I feel it is safer. The decision is entirely up to you but always make sure that you are safe.

LadySeraphina -> RE: Going Pro (11/21/2006 6:24:59 PM)

I started in a dungeon, but there weren't a lot to choose from in my area, and I wanted more control over who I saw than I could have working with them. I now play at home, but I do consultations at a coffee house first, so I screen them that way. If I have the slightest doubt, but still want to play with them, I make sure my houseboy or puppyboy are at home in case I need them (but not in the room, there is no contact with the client unless there was an emergency).

Good luck!
Lady S

Thank you all for your input, I'm going to go check out the links now. Sorry I didn't get back sooner - it was one of those weeks.
I'm not sure, but I think the nearest dungeon is in Seattle, and I don't currently have a car of my own (I can borrow friends'), I expect to be very careful - including having my partner with me in another room.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving (those who are american anyway...)

I've been in the lifestyle for years, after a messy divorce ( and a HUGE drop in income ) I went pro as well, out of my home,As Lady S said ,meet them in the world first and when they call you are absolutley NOT FULL SERVICE, that seems to weed the bone heads out real quick... lol   good luck !!!!!!

TheDiva -> RE: Going Pro (11/27/2006 2:05:59 PM)

You might try Max Fisch. As far as what skills you should have...it depends largely on what type of sessions you'll offer. You'd probably want to be good with a paddle, flogger, single tail, and cane. And looking the part always helps...men are visual and if you can add a compelling picture to your ads, so much the better. Good luck.

iheartgagballs -> RE: Going Pro (11/27/2006 11:21:45 PM)

I know what you're going through. I've had to seriously adjust the policies of my business since moving to a small town with no available dungeons. I play out of hotels now, since my home dungeon was destroyed, and I've had to take measures of "preventative maintenence."
For instance, my clients usually wear a ballgag, if any serious pain play is going on, and I've hired a guard to drive me to my sessions and stay nearby while I play.
My guys have learned to respect the changes to my policy, they're very understanding. Going pro is a struggle at first (mostly nerve racking) but well worth it in the end.
Good luck, and be well.

mistresse Green
I just wanted to raise an issue that noone did raise what about personal safety???   which is what i meant by being safe in my previous post!!

If you have a private dungeon  what insuracne do yuhave a that client doenst turn on you and decide that he paid for somethign and he is goign to take it becasu eyou wouldnt give it to him??

I Did a few Prodomme sessions about a year and a half ago...I needec to earn some dinero for my reconstruction surgery..anyhow  what i did was rent dungeon space in a public venue that way all i had to have was my toys...and my clothes and i had built in equipment and a body guard.... I am forever getting repeat calls from what i call my foot fans to make a date for them to "play with" my feet....unfortunately the local dungeon is now closed so there isnt nay place for me to see them.. so  I am at an impasse...I would have to either have them come to me (not likely)  or me to go to them...then i would have to bring my 6-5 body guard (my buddy who body guards me when I go out)

but i wanted to make mention of the personal security..not all clients understand and hold to the limits that are set up when making an appointment...unfortunately some feel that sex is a part of the session and do not realize that Prodommes arent prostitutes!

be careful

I suggest gloves. You can go swanky and get the full length satin gloves. Even when you make it clear that you expect them to be clean you just never know how clean another person is. And the satiny ones are so much classier than latex gloves. And then just take them off and wash them and feel better about being clean.
Wow, this seems really germ phobic. But I am.

Most Pro Dommes aren't full service- and the ones I know are perfectly capable of handling their clients by themselves.
