dixiedumpling -> Annoying habits (2/11/2005 1:18:13 PM)

I went to the doctor on Wednesday. I sat there with my legs crossed, dangling and shaking and bopping my foot. He touched my nervous foot with his foot to still the motion. I said, "Is that bothering you?" He fairly screamed, "YES!"

Anyone else have nervous habits that drive others nuts?

(or have they been spanked out of you?)

sub4hire -> RE: Annoying habits (2/11/2005 1:20:44 PM)

Unfortunately Ive never had a habit in my entire life. I say unfortunately because not having had one. It is hard for me to empathize with people who do who are trying to break it.
Never had an obsession.
Don't know, I'm just me. I know I'm not your average person.

i used to have a habit of grinding my teeth; however, Sir could hear it and it bugged him, so i had to stop. Probably for the best. [;)]

domtimothy46176 -> RE: Annoying habits (2/13/2005 8:37:52 PM)

I'm a neat freak. My girl calls it anal-retentive and I'll admit I could be very compusive/obsessive about it if I didn't keep it in check. The normal little things that people do like picking something up and putting it down somewhere else makes me cringe. I actually have a rule about it. If it has a place, put it back when you're done or lose the right to use it next time.
Some of it is practical, like the remote control and the car keys. The pad of paper next to the phone, however, doesn't really NEED to be on the left side of the phone. It would be just as accessible if it was placed on the right, lol. Some things I've learned to let go, others she's learned to comply with, although I do sometimes hear that sigh and would be willing to bet that she's rolled her eyes at my eccentricity a time or three.

When i concentrate on something i'm doing, i forget to breathe and eventually grunt for air. It's odd, i know i do it, done it all my life. It's amazing i don't pass out from walking and chewing gum i guess. :P People close to me point it out; i wish i could help it.

Oh and i do say "eh" a little bit in a typical Canadian fashion. I never knew it till i visited Alabama and the locals pointed it out EVERYTIME i said it. Really it's not a problem unless i'm visiting the States eh.

actually you do have a habit sub4hire.
you never admit to anything that could be percieved as negitive. And you tend to speak in a rather Dominant tone when you are discussing your munchies group. ~smiles~

I have a very annoying habit to others. I repeat questions that have not been answered in what I percieve as a timely manner over and over again untill I hear the answer. And if I dont hear an answer with in say My saying the question over again three times Ill add My fingernails tapping on the table as well with the repeatitive question.

Another very annoying habit I have is using smiley faces to bring up old posts that I feel are of value and I do not desire to see disapear. I will state that what is annoying to some is accepted and enjoyed by others especially in the habits section.
Im sure sub4hires members appreciate her Dominant tones and some newbies appreciate My bringing to their attention the post that I have brought to the first pages here.

Speaking is a habit? As I've said many times over dread think of me as you wish. Remember I told you that you could think of me as your dom for all I care.
Some things in life just mean nothing to me.

DiamondDiva -> RE: Annoying habits (2/14/2005 5:17:23 PM)

LOL, that is too funny. Yes, I have a nervous habit, I have a tendacy to tap both of my feet on the balls of my foot and the heels as if I am a drummer or something.

LDRandAstarte -> RE: Annoying habits (8/31/2007 1:19:02 AM)

Yes! I have a habit of answering questions, or following up on a conversation, many minutes or even hours after everyone has moved on.
Kinda like here in this thread, only I do it in real life as well. And I admit I do it expressly to drive people crazy!

Another habit I have is, substituting words.. for instance, in a conversation someone might say;
"I saw Randy skating at the mall Saturday"(skating rink in the mall)
Then I will interject into the conversation "You saw Randy shaving his balls Saturday?!?", as though I misunderstood the person, which I didn't really. This drives my wife friggin nuts!

Twicehappy2x -> RE: Annoying habits (8/31/2007 3:38:41 AM)

I talk to everything!

My plants, the spiders, the bees who come sit on my arm, the birds, the frog i pet every morning after he swims in the bird bath, the bikes as i work on them ( i've been told i sound like a doctor with a patient then).

Scooter and Jewel warn visitors, "no, she really is not crazy, she talks to everything".

Aw, I like that! I do the same........especially when I'm escorting a creature out of my house that shouldn't be in it in the first place.

My worst annoying habit (I have more than one? Gasp!) is that I say nothing is wrong when I'm obviously agitated about something.  Most of the time it's because I know that I'm over reacting or just being bitchy and if I go into it then I'll just agitate myself more.  Sometimes it's because I know that I can't keep my words as soft as they should be.  Time and a place for everything......

Wow, are you my twin? I have a friend who comes over here and moves something in my kitchen just to watch the show. I can go into a room and know something is out of place. Sometimes it just takes me a few minutes to figure it out, and I won't quit until I find it.

Oh, and the pad of paper should be on the left side...especially if you're left-handed.[:D]

kirbay -> RE: Annoying habits (8/31/2007 5:28:49 AM)

I must admit I have quite a few bad habits, without meaning to. I grind my teeth so bad in my sleep that I have to wear a protective retainer for my poor teeth.. I jig my leg like dixiedarling and i also randomly follow onto old old convos and talk to random things (im surprised my poor cat still has ears) like LDRandAstarte.
Some of them are just my personality, but others might need to be trained out of me one day im sure :)

That would annoy the hell out of me!  My sister will do random stupid stuff like that and it pushes my buttons like you wouldn't believe!
(Of course I am perfect and have NO annoying habits myself [;)])

Actually, I have a terrible habit of playing with my hair.. Not in a cute little hair twirling at the nape of my neck way either.  It's always my left arm over my head, either playing with my bangs or lightly rubbing one little spot on my scalp over and over. It is maddening sometimes, to me and those around me.
Funny, I don't really seem to do it around Michael much though.. Coincidence?

GhitaAmati -> RE: Annoying habits (8/31/2007 6:39:04 AM)

I say "Im sorry" to absolutly everything. Drives everyone around me nuts, but no ones managed to break it yet. Things I have no control over whatsoever, You could say...I broke my pencil at work today, Id answer "Im sorry"....I could be sitting in the passanger seat next to you while you drove through town and the car in front of us could cut you off and when you cuss at it, Id say "Im sorry".....When Sir says he had a bad day, if he drops something in the kitchen, first thing out of my mouth is "Im sorry" He hates it, my mom hates it, all my friends hate it....I wish I could figure out how to fix it...but if someones haveing a conversation with me about something thats bothering them, what am I supposed to say? Id be rude if I just sat there and stared blankly into space. Now its turned into a nervous tick.....

Oh...and I shake my leg or tap fingernails or twitch constantly in some way......

and I absolutly have to sleep on the left hand side of a bed.....

I have to buy a new mop everytime I want to mop the floor....flat out refuse to mop with a used mop...ever.....

Ripped out my living room carpet because it was stained and put down pergo, and I threw my couch away because I got tired of steam cleaning baby spit up off it....bought a futon so I could throw the cover in the washing machine...Sir wasnt exactly happy...but he's learned over time, if something get to the point I flat out cant clean it, I just throw it away.....wether its furniture or clothes..once its stained, its in the garbage....

TankII7871 -> RE: Annoying habits (8/31/2007 6:47:43 AM)

Speaking a of couch.  My adult daughter wouldn't stop sleeping on the couch during the day.  She also wouldn't get up off the couch and take care of her kid.  I came home one day and cut the couch in half with a saw then drug it out side and set it on fire.  My daughter was pissed as hell  asha was happy she got to buy new furniture.

Eric
I know i have rather extreme was to handle things that bug me.

GhitaAmati -> RE: Annoying habits (8/31/2007 6:55:43 AM)
