They were all discovered by Cus D'Amato.

Edited to add: And yes, there's a Boxing Hall of Fame--you posted a link to their website!

You're right, I wouldn't have gotten that in a million years.

Our last unsolved/revealed one is a list that I think is Google-proof.

coins
gin
boots
knitting

ShyMistress -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/30/2006 11:25:25 PM)

They all had "troubled youths"...

Well, I'm getting tired. I guess I didn't notice the URL that carefully.

Off to bed leaving my list for others to enjoy:

coins
gin
boots
knitting

Closest I can guess is hobbies...if drinking gin can be considered one lol...

Lordandmaster -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/30/2006 11:33:49 PM)

Sounds like they're themes in a novel or something.  I was toying with A Tale of Two Cities, but I get the feeling you're thinking of something else.

Not a bad guess. Actually, they're all answers from earlier in the thread. [:)]

ShyMistress -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/30/2006 11:36:06 PM)

Of course...stumps us then runs off to bed [8D]

Lordandmaster -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/30/2006 11:36:22 PM)

Then that's not, strictly speaking, Google-proof, but you'd have to sift through reams of hits to get that.

dcnovice -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/30/2006 11:37:21 PM)

This time for real: Off to bed. One last list for the nightowls.

Burnt Norton
East Coker
The Dry Salvages
Little Gidding

Lordandmaster -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/30/2006 11:41:37 PM)

That's Four Quartets, by T.S. Eliot.

ShyMistress -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/30/2006 11:43:56 PM)

Cacofonix
Geriatrix
Fishtix
Vitalstatistix

Lordandmaster -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (11/30/2006 11:50:06 PM)

Those have GOT to be characters in the Asterix series.

ShyMistress -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/1/2006 12:01:21 AM)

Yes...BUT...they all have a more specific thread to tie them...

Those are all american newspaper versions of the names...in reality all characters had three names: the original french name, the american newspaper name, and the american album name

Henri Oreiller
Zeno Colò
Toni Sailer
Jean Vuarnet

Lordandmaster -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/1/2006 12:14:35 AM)

Those were the first four Olympic downhill champions.

Here's a related one for ya:

They were all Olympic medalists, but I think that's not what you're looking for.
Did they all have siblings that were also Olympic skiers?

Aileen68 -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/1/2006 6:47:57 AM)

Let's get another one going...

Sir Isaac Newton
James Earl Jones
Winston Churchill
Lewis Carroll

Lordandmaster -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (12/1/2006 1:49:39 PM)

They all won medals in the slalom at more than one Olympics.
