Here's an easy one, I think.

"Boy, the way Glenn Miller played..."
"This is it. This is life..."
"Lady Godiva was a freedom rider..."
"Here's the story..."

Next one:

Catonsville, MD
Leonardtown, MD
Middleburg, VA
Cynthiana, KY

You're probably never going to get it, so I'll give y'all a hint: they all have schools or parks honoring a certain person.

*Brief hijack*

I have no idea what the answer is to this...

However, I have a question...  Can I see a picture of your devoted alpha slave?

*waits patiently*

And would that person be Benjamin Banneker, who (I think) helped Pierre l'Enfant layout the little riverside village where I live?

I'm pretty sure Banneker is right, and were list-less (not to be confused with listless), so I'm gonna post another quartet.

Brian
Michael
Emmett
Ted

Yes, it's Banneker...how the fuck did you know that?  I'm impressed.

Your list is from Queer as Folk, right?

I can Google too. (Wouldn't have gotten it w/o your hint, though.)

Though I'm a bit miffed that you didn't include DC, which appears to have both a Banneker school and park.

Now it's my turn to be impressed! I figured that would stump all you straight folk.

Haven't seen LAM in a bit, so I'll fill in and post a list for the hordes of folks who are sure to visit the thread this evening.

1900
1920
1940
1960

What do these years have in common (besides the census)?

Well, yeah, but they also have a L'Enfant Plaza, which I find somewhere between ignorant and downright offensive.  L'Enfant was the guy who got sacked because he was incompetent.  Banneker designed your city, but he doesn't get a plaza because he was black.

Ah, but have you seen L'Enfant Plaza? Not exactly a great monument.

To be fair to dear old Pierre, I honestly do think he designed the city, though I confess that I'm no expert. He got fired, I think, because he was a lousy politician and razed some wealthy dude's house because it was in the way of one his grand boulevards. FWIW, Wikipedia says Banneker's role in DC lies in the realm of urban legend. But again, I'm no expert.

You were the last list solver, LAM, so feel free to post a new challenge if you want. I was just pinch-hitting between rounds of stirring my plum pudding.
