FR: Well, Dark got closest. Scott Lagasse Dick Trickle Tammy Jo Kirk Buckshot Jones are all now (recently) retired NASCAR drivers who made significant names for themselves in the "Busch Series", NASCAR's "farm team", yet never really did much in the "big leagues" of stock car racing. All four of these drivers had huge fan appeal, far outstripping their racing talents, and they still can command audiences at race events when they show up. Dick Trickle, by the way, is often referred to the "winningest driver of all time" having racked up over 1600 race wins. Although he was the rookie of the year for NASCAR in 1989, he never won a dime on the premium Winston Cup circuit. That "rookie" designation was somewhat of a joke: when he won it, Trickle was 48, had been racing for over 34 years and had won over 1450 races in almost every other class of racing before he sat in a Winston Cup car. I proudly consider this one a "gotcha", and you all now know more about the Busch league than anyone really needs to know. E.
