Moulin Rouge

(Actually "Casablanca" is Spanish for White House.  French would be "maison blanche".)

What they had in common was that they were just movie names translated to English.

Your turn Lance.

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/2/2010 6:17:11 PM)

French - merci (mehr-see')
French - Merci Madame - Thanks (to a woman)
French - Merci Mademoiselle - Thanks (to a young girl)
French - Merci Monsieur - Thanks (to a man)

Spanish - Gracias (grah'-syas)
Spanish - Gracias a todos (Thank you all)
Spanish - Muchas gracias (thank you very much, literally: many thanks) In Spanish, when a flyer is shoved into your hands, its worth a 'gracias', you normally use 'muchas gracias'.
Spanish - Muchisimas gracias (thank you VERY much) - to someone who was useful to you.
Spanish - un millón de gracias (a million thanks) - for when someone saves your life.
Spanish (Latin America, informal) - Te pasastes. (informal)
Spanish (Latin America, informal) - Se pasó. (formal) Which means "You went over the line", or "thanks for going out of your way to help me". When used, it will get you a smile, guaranteed.

Oh, yeah..... a quartet:

bell
heart
leaf
acorn

Thank You, Master Tim.

You are "up," MusicMystery.

Musicmystery -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/3/2010 7:37:23 AM)

New Quartet:

Cabbage
Chicken
Prune
Soup

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/3/2010 9:08:56 AM)

Polski menu:

Borscht Soup
Roasted Chicken - in Polish "Kurcze z Nadzieniem"
Stewed Red Cabbage (on the side - with chopped apple and raisins)

Potato Perogi (not in the quartet, but you must have potatoes)
Prune Cake

Yummm...... I guess my Polish heritage is showing.  (And I have all the ingredients to make this menu except for one - TIME. LOL!)

Musicmystery -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/3/2010 9:35:57 AM)

Well....no.

Shampoo could also be on this list.

Not something a real person might eat, I grant you. But a plastic person might.

At least, after debating which of these are vegetables.

Musicmystery -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/3/2010 7:01:31 PM)

Flo: So, do you think this quartet is difficult?

Eddie: Difficult? It's a Mother!!!

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/3/2010 9:00:44 PM)

Flo & Eddie (Howard Kaylan, "Eddie", and Mark Volman, "Flo" aka "Phlorescent Leech") are a comedic musical duo. The two were the original founding members of the Top 40 pop group The Turtles. After The Turtles dissolved, Kaylan and Volman first joined the Mothers of Invention as "Phlorescent Leech & Eddie". Due to contractual restrictions made early in their career, Mark and Howard were prevented from using the name "The Turtles", as well as their own names in a musical context.[1] The Phlorescent Leech and Eddie were actual nicknames of two of the Mothers of Invention road crew.

But WhereTF the quartet comes into play is difficult - Maybe they did the soundtrack for Shampoo, but that wasn't in the quartet.

I like my answer of "Polski Menu" much, much better. LOL!

(And here you thought you were giving it away.)

Well, it might help to creep around Laurel Canyon with this guy from the CIA.

Or, march down Sunset Blvd. to crescent heights.
There, at Pandora's Box, we are confronted with a vast quantity.

Musicmystery -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/4/2010 3:52:04 PM)

A prune is not a vegetable.

Cabbage is a vegetable; makes it O.K.

Musicmystery -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/4/2010 7:27:56 PM)

OK, two more "hints":

Hint #1

Hint #2

Sorry--that's as many hints as you're getting!

I still like my answer better. LOL!

Musicmystery -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/4/2010 9:02:18 PM)

But still, my answer has the virtue of being correct....

Your turn, Lance.

LanceHughes -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/4/2010 9:16:46 PM)

LOL!

Here's one that is almost too easy:

Charlemagne
David (the Biblical King)
Caesar
Alexander

Hanable -> RE: What Do These Things Have In Common? (2/4/2010 10:45:11 PM)
