King Crabmeat cedar planked and drizzled with loads of lemon cooked by the guy who made the plank ?

Close, but no cigar.

Actually not close but planking sounds fun. If you're lucky enough to have the Wood.

And the King and the fire! A bit of Lemoncello would be a nice twist too.

I am close in that it is food? More hints?

Current quartet quoted so it is near top-of-page.

quote:

1. Citrus
2. Conflagration
3. King
4  Woodworker

There is a slight connection in that the answer can be food, but it's not the commonality.

A hint would need to be small - very small indeed

Things that start small, but end up big?

Not sure about "woodworker" though.

Citrus seed starts a large tree.
Large fire starts with a spark.
King starts as a small boy.
Woodworker starts Pinochio's nose, tells lies and it gets bigger?

Too hard! Is this something common knowledge or some obscure hummingbird that some people eat or something?

I don't think it's too hard - but I know the answer.

Actually it's really not hard if you substitute an alternative name for each word until they share something in common.

Yeah I was a bit clued onto the changing the words thing but I havent found the right combination yet. Okay so it is something more common is a good clue too. Thanks. Scratch, scratch the brain.

Darn it, I wanted to guess this already.

3. Ruler (like a measuring stick)  Is this any help to any one, or am I barking up wrong tree?  And what does "stay small" have to do with that?)

Yeah I was wondering if it was like a measuring ruler?

Citrus could be lemon, could be bad car, could be lime, could be lyme's disease but no because it could be food. Could be the color orange. What else with citrus?

King, Ruler Monarch, King of Pop?

But small and could be food...

Woodworker, Carpenter, Carpenter ant?

Conflagration, fire, blaze, inferno?

No, it's King as in ruling the land, not a measure.

The 'stay small' was to think of something small. Growth isn't relevant.

Dear Lord someone guess the right one! I am stuck here trying to sort it out.

You said throw out most of the clues so some of them are keepers?
