I had a fairly deep conversation with a self proclaimed "tWue" domme` and she flat out said that "unless you were mentored my an old guard grandmaster, you are not a "real dom".

I have my experiences, and my techniques, and I have had a lot of various influences in my "learning/ schooling" and I am curious of other's opinions as to that makes you "real".

Last I checked, I was very real, and have not had to question it.

ok, discuss :)

Hey Darth,
I've read your posts and always thought you were real, but maybe I too need to go find a Grandmaster" daddy to teach me the Grand ways...
With my little experience, the only thing I can say for "real" is soo many people are full of S*** and desiring to feel superior, all they end up doing is stating "if you don't belong to this flock and act exactly like we do, you're not real." I could be wrong though...

I do believe it's good to Watch (yah know safety, and voyeurism), and to have a mentor as well (good friends are great to have)... M

I've always felt comfortable with my style and technique where bondage, humiliation, and other types of non-SM play are concerned. When I wanted to explore SM activities like flogging and caning, I did seek out assistance from a local Domme in a group I meet with once a month. I felt I needed a bit more hands-on guidance with those things as far as safety and technique. Overall, I am true to myself and my style and don't feel I need anyone to tell me how I need to be in order to be a "true Domme".

Be well,
Julie

And making a statement like this, she claims she is both real and "twue"?

Fact is, she is a liar or a fool. So, how really "real" is that?

Wonderingly -

Tell you what -

If someone can prove that:
1. They were mentored by a Grand Master/Mistress, and
2. This same person was 'old guard' (in the known and colloquial sense of it's origination in leather)

I will apologize.

However -
Ten to one odds that:

This person whom they were allegedly mentored by
1. Met with a tragic end, or
2. They live a secret or cloistered life and do not desire to be known to the populace at large.
and
3. Therefore, there is no proof to be had - but, otherwise.....

And,

The person stating this will be indignant that they should be challenged in such a way, stating that there are many of them, just that it is a secret - as "everyone" knows.

Seen it, been there, read the book and sent it back to the library's fiction section.

Any person caliming to be "more real" so to speak than any others in this lifestyle are only exorcising their own exclusivity and need to "feel" as though they are better. The reality of it though is that they are no more real or better than anyone else and are in my opinion living in their own dilusional overly critical and judgemental lifestyle. NO ONE in this lifestyle is better than another.....simply different.

I myself belive that one does not have to be trained to be a Dom. You're either like being in control of your relationships or not giveing it to your other or a percentage ratio.

As far as bondage and sadisim go, though you really don't need a teacher, it never hurts go have others show you a thing or two for safty.

I don't know why a Domme would be mentored by an old guard anything. That doesn't make much sense to me.

I've sought out a mentor for the same reason I'm taking anatomy classes. I'd like to be safe in everything I'm doing to someone.

If I try new things I'd like to try it with someone who hasn't had too many "oops" moments and who has been improving her technique in flogging, electro play or even underwater basket weaving for several years.

If there is a chance I'm going to screw things up and land my subbie in the hospital I'm going to take the proper steps to find someone I've built up trust with, someone who can guide me.

However not all people want to go that route. That's fine, though those people do not need me to validate that for them. As long as they're being safe with the life of the person bottoming for them I see no reason why someone else should push his/her beliefs on another. Live and let live.

Darth,
You need to refer to the old thread "Grand Master" in Lounge area where I posted this ad:

quote:

Actually yes, and you discovered my secret society. Now I must hunt you down.

For others interested in obtaining your Grand Master title, bring $100,000.00 in small bills to Redondo Beach and put them in the garbage container on the corner of Avenue I and the Esplanade. In it will be your Grand Master Ritual Handbook and "Guide to Good Grand Mastering". Go next to the end of the Redondo Pier wearing a red rose in your lapel and I'll have my page and courrier, arriving on white horseback, bring you your Grand Master Certificate.

If you're interested, in your case, use the bucket to bring the money.

Hmm, since I prefer to use my fictitious $100K to refurbish my fictitious yacht prior to spending this spring cruising the Bahamas, I guess I'll just have to live with my wannabe status, lol. Shh, don't tell my girl I'm not a twue dominant.

The only person who gets to decide whether or not I am a dominant is me. Everybody else's opinion about my dominance is just that, their opinion. I give their opinion the weight it is due through personal experience with the person who's opinion we are discussing; which is to say - people I respect. Even then, I don't lose sleep over it and hope to be surrounded by other people who feel similarly.

I generally do not put a lot of weight on "one true way" orientations. I find the arguments most often are pedantically recited mindless mantras, especially when the perspective doesn't account for anything outside itself. What's to respect about that? Most of the folks I know who have had some sort of title bestowed upon them by their community are the sort to take that stuff in stride. "You don't call yourself grandpoobah, you are honored when others choose to" sort of thing.

I think of old guard the same way I think of gor: If it's your thing then go out and make it happen! More power to ya! May it bring you great joy! And thats all I'm going say about 'old guard' and 'grandpoobahs.'

All this talk about training methods for Doms has me wondering; is there some Grand Master Submissive I should be referrring to , or does being a self proclaimed sub without an outside source of affirmation make me a fake?

Trust me, Darth; you are doing a fine job with what you are doing.
