Hello, I would like to know if anyone has had any BDSM-related in Singapore. How does Singapore's culture measure up with others?

You could be living in Singapore or perhaps have met a Singaporean overseas.

Also, places selling gear in Singapore are rare, and shipping from foreign websites can cost a lot! Especially if the items are heavy. Anyone with local sources?

Let me qualify my question with some context.

As someone who's a newbie and exploring, I find that the scene in Singapore can sometimes be quite superficial and even tepid. While attempting to get my bearings from the Singapore section of collarme.com, I was led to believe that this lifestyle was all about sex. That is, until I decided to check in on the notice boards, where I found intelligent people who are not only physically, but psychologically engaged.

I don't know -- is it because the community is less developed and mature in my country? It is also very closely associated with swingers here. Is this normal?

I'm very curious too, as to the demographics of this community.

Granted my perspective is clouded by this being the experience of a long time companion that lived in Singapore. I would say that the scene there is tepid and it's discouraged because "things like that don't happen here". I mean this is the same country that was going to publically cane a teenage kid for spitting gum on the sidewalk.

Singapore advertising is shiney clean and proper. Which from what I saw it is. There's a catch...the "re-education centers". Why do you need kink when your government plays 24/7 dom on everything you do and is willing to publically flog people for mis-behavior?

The world scene is very diverse all sizes, shapes and flavors of people and kink. As for swinging some but not all. Some guys think it's great to share their girls, others will kick your butt for looking at their property. Female dominants tend to be more into not sharing what's theirs whether it's 1 man or more.

This perspective of kink is about sex is not at all uncommon for someone new looking in from the outside. HOWEVER I do think that your country isn't as liberated about the spread of information that would counteract these perceptions. Many of the best books on the subject that would easily be available in america or europe would likely be grounds for re-education or jail in your country.

So you mean to say you've lived in Singapore? How did you find it?

While trawling through the forum I read about munches and meetups. Wow, it'll be some time more before this happens here. I've heard of an MSN group that fell apart some years back, and that aside there's only collarme.com. With about say, 50 members?

Any idea how old the community is in your country? I wonder many years behind we're lagging -- or how many potential years more before I'll see meetups here!

Think your filtering software has a glitch. There are many many many more collar members than 50. I have over 800 just in my state. Globally tens and possibly 100's of thousands of practicing kinksters. That's not even counting the couples that don't have a name for "we tie each other up sometimes". There are even more websites just in the states. Most are listed on other threads of this site.

I would call Singapore sanitized and somewhat stepford like...kind of like disneyland. On the surface it's beautiful and, everything and every one, is perfect. Well one of my favorite authors that can occasionally be found on this site, John Warren was active in the 60's, I'm sure he wasn't the first one. I'd say in the US at least 50-60 years.
