Missokyst -> Why would someone email, then block you? (11/28/2006 4:58:04 PM)

Ok... I can pop in and out of this place all day because I often work out of my home.  Today I checked in, picked up some mail and was going to answer when I was called away on a call.  I came back home, went to answer a few a couple of hours after receiving them.  I was pretty excited to see that someone had an interest I shared.  So I wrote an email and sent it off...
only to see that my email had been blocked!!

I know better than to take anything personally.  And I am not upset.  But I am flumoxed.  Why would someone drop another a perfectly innocent email that was friendly, then block the user from sending a reply?

Any ideas?
Kyst

it was either a mistake or they weren't sincere.

The only thing I can come up with is maybe they emailed before reading your profile in full and found something after emailing that they decided they did not like? [&:]  Or it could be a clitch in the system? People are weird - lol

Most often I've found that to happen when they were expecting instant gratification after you read their email.
Some people just have no patience!

To the OP...That would be my guess too, they saw you read their message but didn't answer immediately...so they copped an attitude and blocked you. Maybe they were a masochist and punished themself, who knows...lol.

wouldn't that require actually having a mind to begin with?

LOL (not directed at anyone here)

mnottertail -> RE: Why would someone email, then block you? (11/28/2006 5:21:02 PM)

note first of all where the block user button is in relation to the add to favorites button.  secondly, there are email problems on this site.  thirdly they had a much better interface that they should have switched to, and the outrage wasnt that great, but it ran parallel instead of being dropped in and created alot of confusion, since you would end up in the middle of nowhere and the administration of this site took it to mean that it was too confusing period, not taking into consideration in the proper weighting of things that people are reluctant to change, I wish they would have just installed the thing and let the chips fall where they may as they do so many other things here in such fashion.

We'd all be better off for it. Plus there is the fraidy cat factor.

Yep, I've seen that. They figure you read the message and didn't reply right away, so you aren't worth their time. It's odd.

LeMis -> RE: Why would someone email, then block you? (11/28/2006 5:27:32 PM)

My first guess (since this has happened to me before & I found a way to e-mail the person from a 2nd nic made up in a jiffy/then deleted afterwards) is that it may be a mistake just as Ron mentioned.

Missokyst -> RE: Why would someone email, then block you? (11/28/2006 5:28:33 PM)

LOL... I like that one.  I suspect it was probably a timing thing, perhaps people get offended when someone doesn't rush to respond.  Such a shame too.  I rarely find anyone who professes an interest in crime stories/cases. And this was the first email that approached me like a human, rather than the subset of sub.
Bummer!  [>:]

easy,..the person probably wanted to say something to you, but didn't want an answer, they probably figured that maybe you'd bother them all the time with emails and whatnot...so they wrote to ya,..and blocked you so you couldn't write back! it makes perfect sense...don't ask me how i know...[&:]

You're online.  That explains almost everything.

defiantbadgirl -> RE: Why would someone email, then block you? (11/28/2006 6:12:05 PM)

You could always email them under another id and send the lyrics to the old Guns and Roses song Patience.

NYMaster101 -> RE: Why would someone email, then block you? (11/28/2006 6:17:54 PM)

I don't know why, but it has happened to me, too.

MzMia -> RE: Why would someone email, then block you? (11/29/2006 9:54:11 PM)

This has happened to me many times.  In fact it happened yesterday, LOL.
Almost always, I am told off and then blocked.
And it has always been "collar me" online/submissives that were not happy
with what I said, OR mad because I said we don't share the same interests.
What fun it is to email them from my other profile and respond.
LOL
