"All My Children", an ABC daytime soap, is adding a transgendered character. He will be introduced Thurs. Nov. 30th.
Don't generally watch soaps, but might give this one a look see.

Being 'transgendered' isn't a kink.

Its a thread in the Off Topic section too.

And what Stef said; BIG difference between TS/TG (biological/psychological condition) and crossdressing (kink, amongst other things)

I actually think that on the whole television in England anyway is presenting our lifestyle in a very positive way.
It is difficult to agree what BDSM includes even amongst ourselves let alone for the general public.
I can understand the tilt towards proDommes as they are often the only ones who will speak out.
I think they provide a very valuable service.
Quite a few of the men I have talked to have used them.
It's the same with prostitution. Where there is a need there will always be somone to provide the service.
And someone who will use it to abuse.
I never watch soaps but I do know that they often provide an education tool.
So does comedy.
The only problem I have with soaps is the false impression of speed that they give.
They show easy solutions to very complex life problems.
Real life is not like that.
If I have said it once I have said it a thousand times things take time.
I think in twenty to thirty years BDSM will be fairly main stream.
I am fairly open about the fact that I am a Domme.
But since I lost my job because of it noone can really hurt me anymore.
Unless I break the law of course and I don't intend to do that unless it's to provide someone with much needed release from pain.

Chances are, a lot of us are going to get knocks on the door this time next year with this new legislation thats coming in. Images showing bdsm acts, including photos you took yourself, of yourself or a consenting partner, will in some cases lead to prosecution, and a registration on the sex offender's register along with paedophiles and rapists.

I am still waiting an answer from the local police on how they will be implementing the new law - ie with how much common sense it will be used. But in theory, we're all now suspected sex offenders, simply by virtue of our CM membership.

I wonder how many MPs, high court judges, bishops and lords this will affect?

I was eye-rolling while writing - just figured that adding the jiggedy little face thingy would have been so drama queen.

They might be moving to the side of openmindedness, but nowhere in that article does it say they're incorporating kink.  Not all transfolk (or gay folks) are kinky; in fact, some I know are the most uptight, vanilla-icecream-eating individuals on this planet, and would do everything in their power to abolish kinky people who "ruin it" for them having a chance for a semi-normal existance.  Perhaps I missed something?
