I just finished reading a book called 'Marley & Me' written by John Grogan.
In it he says some words about his dog Marley, and although they are written about a dog they just seemed so right.  They fitted into this context perfectly.
So here they are (slightly edited to change 'canine' to 'sub' where needed.

'Part of our journey as his owners was to mold him to our needs, but part also was to accept him for what he was. Not just to accept him, but to celebrate him and his indomitable [submissive] spirit. We had bought into our home a living, breathing being, not a fashion accessory to prop in the corner. for better or worse, he was our [submissive]. He was a part of our family.

To me that  parallels the journey a Sir and his slave goes through.

I agree...and subs should certainly feel the same towards their doms in terms of acceptance and celebration of who they REALLY are.

Your right dorei, it is an amazing book. I spent over an hour crying as i read the last of it, I could see what was going to happen.

I recommend any dog\animal lover read it.

What i loved best about the book was how accepting the owner was of Marley. Their dynamic was amazing.
i still almost laugh out loud (literally) when i remember the description of the dog they thought to be Marley's father.
The hardback has the actual pictures of Marley at the beach.... remember the stories about the beach day?
OMG i have to go find it and read it again... really easy read for those who have not read it yet. Just have a box of tissues ready at the end... but really, the actual ending is great, don't you think? All the people comming together...

Master enjoyed reading this one too...
