I have to admit, I'm lazy. I try to make sure it's readable, but I'm not gonne go on a rampage if a comma is missing or a word is misspelled. Unless of course, the OP is complaining about grammar and has numerous mistakes. That drives me NUTS.

I, uh, try?

I like things to be spelled and used correctly, but I'm usually reading fast enough that I don't really stop to think about it.

The one that always gets to me is " its " " its' " and " it's "

while we're on the subject;

discrete - adjective, having a clear independent shape or form; separate: These small companies now have their own discrete identity. NOTE: Do not confuse with discreet

discreet - adjective, careful not to cause embarrassment or attract too much attention, especially by keeping something secret
NOTE: do not confuse with discrete

and spell checkers will only tell you if you have spelled the word correctly, not if you are using the word correctly

Yes, Ma'am, and as we all know, having a clear independent shape or form is the better part of valor.

... and they don't tell You where to put periods and line feeds ... so what's Your point, Ma'am ?

Her point is that spell checkers don't catch when you misspell a word if your misspelling accidently is the same as the correct spelling for a different word.

'Discrete' is a correctly spelled word but many people use it when they really mean 'discreet'.

So a little education is necessary - we can't rely on a computer to correct all of our mistakes.

Thank you, chris, for singing to the choir. You weren't kidding sissy when you told him that "North Americans don't 'do' irony - its not a humor form we understand, it just sails over our heads."

sissy Was merely pointing out the irony that MistressRoseStar's post contained a sentence that did not end in a period, thereby proving Her own point, and once again validating Sherri's "truism that every spelling/grammar flame contains a spelling/grammar error."

Maybe sissy should just stick to doing the ironing instead of doing irony!

glassdoll... this thread is mostly for laughs.

I've seen this kind of reaction from you in the casual banter section before. It's not going to be a fun ride for you on these boards if you get offended each time we try to laugh at ourselves.

Oh you and SissymaidLola are just trying to make me paranoid and hyperaware (I'm being redundant) of my grammatical faux pas (what's the plural of faux pas?), but it's not going to work I tell you! M
