When all else fails and you can find no reasonable explanation the only possibility is: OE I used to be a software tech.. and if I had tried everything and the person on the other end of the line seemed totally clueless I would simply insert . "it's ok that a commmon oe, lets take a 15 minute break and we will try again". At which point I would hang up, go to the break room, smoke and try to figure out the easiest way to get the person on the other end of the phone to do as I ask. You know like power down the computer (NOT the TV screen) or to put their mouse on the start button (NO not pick it up and physically put it there). OE= operator error One customer I remember so very well, he and his wife are older, and chinese. So english is a bit difficult and broken for them, and they are older so they know very little about the "picture box". After 2 days of trying to get him to uninstall then reinstall a program I asked "heya, do you have any children". Of course his are grown and moved away. So he asks me, would a small child help? Bells sound, lights flash on and off... YES -- as a matter of fact it would. So the next day he calls again, and a co worker who has overheard my conversations with this man says the chinaman is on the line.. he says he has something that might work. I get on the phone and he says.. "you told me need small child, have 9 yr old nephew what do with him now? I said give him the phone, we were finished in 20 minutes.. and I imagine a cheer was heard in China town that evening, and the 9 yr old nephew no doubt recieved great praise. Heck, I bet they held a dinner in his honor. The next day I recieved a large beautiful flower arrangement, signed "The old China Man in Cali" ps old dog learn no trick, new pup know all man.. sometimes I miss that job. come to think about it, maybe I don't..;-) Mod3
