totally agreed. the Hi and then send PIC messages are irritating. i will not send a pic to a random stranger who i do not know who may not be who they profess to be or even age they profess to be. plus pictures are imbedded with metadata that compromises privacy. the rewards do not outweigh the risks for me. how about chatting and get to know one another thru this site or some emails, then progress to a phone dialogue and then lets meet in person in a non compromising social setting and decide if there is a spark to ignite an inferno.

Like me I think most people wouldn't be interested in someone they're not physically attracted to and don't want to waste time with someone who isn't willing to show what they look like beforehand. The excuse that a person doesn't want their picture out there is a joke given that you can't go anywhere anymore without being captured on camera by businesses & government.

Not to mention there's almost certainly someone running around out there that looks exactly or almost exactly like you anyway. I believe most who don't want to post a picture do it because they think they're unattractive and will win you over by their personality alone. Now that may work for some. But for the rest of us human nature dictates what we find attractive and looks do play at the very least a small part in it.

Now if someone is demanding personal information, then that's something completely different.

Not having a pic may have been ok in the days of dialup, but most people view this as a dating site. So a pic is necessary anymore.
People want to know who they're talking to. You don't have to be model perfect. Just real. Having your picture easily accessible makes you seem more "real" as opposed to a faceless profile.

Me, I generally don't even bother sending messages if there's no pic in the profile. If they message me first, I'll ask for a pic if/when I feel it's appropriate in the conversation, or necessary for me to care, or if I don't know what else to say but want to continue the conversation.

But I'm shallow as fuck. And single as fuck. So what do I know?
