Actually I think it is rather effective when they go up on market to just scan them for current value. ;)

I'm all for micro-chipping them!

Thankyou for bringing this up as I am curious.
I would rather carve my name on a slaves hide than a number it seems so much more personal to me.
But I can see the need for some slaves to be registered.
However both parties would need to be absolutely sure that this was for life before I would put a mark on anyone that could not easily be removed.
The only thing that would get me to that point would be time. Commitment comes easy to some and very difficult for others.
I think it's easier for me than it would be for a slave.
I can have another slave he or she can only have one Mistress.
So I would have to be very sure that my slave understood the commitment and was ready for it.
It is too easy at the beginning of a relationship to think that it will last.
The reality is sometimes very different.

I think the point to the generic bar coding and slave number being used as a mark is that it's unique to the SLAVE and not a single owner who may not be around.  Like tattooing a girlfriend's name on one's asscheek, when that relationship is over, the next girlfriend truly wishes to take a piece of his ass out because of that lasting reminder of "where he's been."  Like I used to freezebrand the registration numbers into my horses' necks under their manes, the slaves carry a generic mark not unique to ME.  I personally recognize that nothing lasts forever, good or bad, and in my untimely demise or our separation, I would wish for them to be able to carry on a life that does not forever mark the ending of our journey together (for whatever reason.) YMMV

~Fast Reply~

I just asked my dominant if he would ever register me and get the number tattooed, kinda giggling as I asked. It reminds him of the numbers that the Nazi's tattooed onto the Jews in the concentration camps. Needless to say, while it had never interested me in the first place, it certainly never be happening in this house.

Caitriona -> RE: Slave Registry (12/3/2006 6:27:51 PM)

I cannot understand the example linking the slave registration number to the concentration camp numbers.  Those in the camps did not willingly submit to having those numbers placed on their bodies.  Anyone who gets a slave registration number does so of their own free will.  Alternately, it may be the choice of their Master/Dominant, to whose will they have surrendered - by choice.

I have a registration number - it belongs soley to me.  Should my relationship with my Dominant end, it's still my number.  It is not connected to him in any way.  Since my submission is a part of my very soul it is not dependant upon having a Dominant person in my life, however the right relationship allows me to share my submission with my partner.

If you don't like the idea of a slave registration number, then don't get one.  Same goes for tattoos, brandings or anything else.  You're not required to have one - it's not a BDSM social security number.

Yes one is tattooed by choice the other isnt. I cant speak for the others that feel there is a connection between the two, but can say as far as I am concerned the connection or comparison is not to do with the lack of choice, just more the appearance of the tattooed numbers, which of course can presumably be done with or without some class. Its everyones personaly choice, I'd rather a symbol, picture etc than a number, but hey to each his own.

playfulotter -> RE: Slave Registry (12/3/2006 6:53:42 PM)

i haven't read all the other postings about this question but i have always thought over the last six years when i have seen it and i have been owned twice..it is a way for those that are a bit insecure to show some how they have importance in this vast world..heck..jsut be who You are and be the slave or Master and what does it matter if You are registered or not....if 52% of married people get divorced having a tattoo from some man You will never see again is probably in the range of over 90% in this lifestyle.....wait 5-10 years and then get your slave registry or tattoo....[:)]

namelesswolf -> RE: Slave Registry (12/3/2006 7:24:25 PM)

wow i didnt think getting registered was such a problem for some  i actually enjoyed it and it means  the world to me i've been registered for 3 years but i do understand where you guys are coming from everyone has there thing

namelesswolf -> RE: Slave Registry (12/3/2006 7:29:42 PM)

anyhow everyone has something that eveyone else does not like it this world it is utterly moronic I for one am happily registered to Master Derago SLRN  # 708910 it is a older number but thats me and at least for me it is not about insecureities or  anything like that I have no problems stating to the world i am a slave i am owned and i am happy

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Slave Registry (12/3/2006 7:46:22 PM)

mnotter - I now understand this esoteric humor of "Ron" I've read about.  I sat here, I read, I reread...I felt my brain shrugging and looking elsewhere for counsel...I reread again and you know what I came up with?

I don't have to understand what you meant for it to be funny, it just *is* and that's plenty lol [:D]

For all the others who have replied, I'm always excited to see many replies, would love to thank each and everyone separately but it would probably be pisspoor for others to read if I did, so please take a general thank you and know your thoughts are appreciated [:D]

I actually hadn't ever asked an artist about a tat of a barcode, but the poster who said it's generally not a great idea for longterm based simply on aesthetics, thanks for that and I will definitely consult a few of my faves and see what they'd suggest, I've been very happy with their work so far and will trust if they say it's not the best idea.  In that case, it will be up to the man in charge to say whether he'd still enjoy the idea of it even if it didn't look fantastic for very long, and maybe sway him to another direction.

I know it's been done more times than I could count, but I *really* am partial to a kiss mark on my bumcheek, like the way it would look as if it were a lipstick marked kiss.  I just think it would look pretty, no real deep meaning for me with it unless we added to it somehow in a way we'd both enjoy on a deeper level...just thinking outloud, sorry *blushes* lol

It's a number. It gets tattooed on your skin. They had numbers. They were tattooed on their skin. The circumstances are different.

You seem offended and I'm not sure why. I don't disapprove of this practice, just putting in my .02 and something for people to think about. He is part Jewish and has Jewish family. He feels this would be wrong. I am glad that you take pleasure in having your number on your skin. I don't see anything wrong with it. It is simply wrong for me and mine.

Thankyou: this is a major part of the reasoning behind the Registration Numbers. It
also allows you to identify the slave without having to allow them their own identity,
and can be very objectifying, as some people have also mentioned on this thread.

I have to ask, did the original tattoo have the horns or were they added later?

timeoutgurlie -> RE: Slave Registry (12/4/2006 2:21:31 PM)

Not enought ime to give this a proper reply, just wanted to thank those who have added their thoughts, much appreciated, I love to hear about the various ways others are choosing/have chosen to "mark" themselves for their submission, also for their relationships/commitments [:)]

I picked out a cute facing front teddy bear, actually it was a panda, I didnt want a panda so asked that the color used be amended to brown and yes I asked that he add some horns a long tail and place a pitchfork in one hand/paw. He initially showed me his design and the eyes of the teddy were angry evil eyes, I didnt want that so he changed them back to nice eyes again for me [:)] . Oh I also placed a blue t-shirt on the teddy bear, in case I later wanted to add his name, which I didnt. Most tattooists have great artistic ability, and can do whatever you wish for them to do. All my tattooes are of my own design, bar the chinese symbol.

Ok, have read through, now I'm up to date, thanks again everyone.

I'm left to wonder now if it's coincidence that I have posted a few topics that end up being posted in unison with many others or were they there already and I just wasn't looking hard enough [&:]

I'll try and be more careful about it, maybe it's just the way the forum works, one topic spawns more because others take it and add their own twist?  The internet is a strange and confusing place sometimes [:-] *giggles*

faithNZ -> RE: Slave Registry (12/6/2006 3:30:43 PM)

I'm registered on the slave register (although can't remember how long ago I did it) and did so because I wanted to.  Kept on seeing people mentioning it on different sites and I liked the idea (plus I have a really weird memory for numbers...[:D]).

LordVelvet -> RE: Slave Registry (12/6/2006 4:23:36 PM)

But any tattoo in the Jewish faith is wrong it wouldn't matter what it is. If you are Jewish and tattooed you can not be buried on Jewish ground. This was because of the tattooing that was forced upon them. But you can't have it both ways. You can't say this tattoo is ok and this one, since it has numbers, is not. I have freinds who are Jewish and tattooed and they know they will not be buried on Jewish land, it was a choice they made. Do what you like and what feels right to you. I have 13 tattoos. I like them, they are important to Me.

i say...do whatever makes you (and your partner)  feel good in the end....that's what matters most.

Afterall, vanillas might think collars are silly, or stupid, and wonder why we just don't get rings like they do.  Who cares?  [8|]

I had never heard of this before, although I did know that tattooing is "taboo" in the Jewish faith. I did a search on the internet after I read your post and I found many, many Jewish websites that said this, while commonly misunderstood, is not true.
