The people running our government have to be as diverse as the country or you just have the rich white guys running it like 100 years ago. There are too many lawyers in Congress compared to the number of lawyers in society. As for your Doctor analogy - I wouldn't want a podiatrist (foot doctor) performing open heart surgery on me; not all doctors are the same, you need diversity there as well.

I think he would make a splendid VICE President, I would like him to get his feet wet before seeking the top spot. On the other hand, if that means the Dem presidential candidate would be Hillary Clinton ... I don't want to go there, either. I suppose whether I would vote for him would depend on whom I was voting against ... though I have had such a dour view of the Republicans over the last decade it's difficult to see whom they could nominate that would possibly regain my respect.

To trannysub, How can you say you don't know anything about someone, and then say you would vote for him to be President of the United States ??? Obama is a flash in the pan. He will never get the South to vote for him..Just another liberal...

I like him a lot. I think he's smart, an independent thinker, very very "personable" and appears to have pretty good judgment. I bought his book ("The Audacity of Hope" or whatever it was called - I swear I am getting Alzheimer's and can't remember the title right now). Based on what I know now, I'd vote for him if he ran. The older I get, the more I am appreciating people who appear to be Moderates, and I think he is pretty moderate. Also, in reference to what caitlyn said, I think he would rise above all of that "mud slinging" that sometimes happens during elections (or make his best effort to do that. He's a classy guy, I think). - Susan

I don't envy ANYONE going into the office after this train wreck. I really like Obamma. I'd hate to see this next presidential election lay the mess in his lap. For that reason I'd wait until 2012.
