Darthbetta -> I rented a GOR movie of Epic Stupidity...... (2/15/2005 9:11:30 AM)

Anyone familliar with Mystery Science Theatre 3000 ( MST3K) can fullly appreciate the crappyness of movies, and will often rent "bizzare and obscure" titles just for giggles.

SO my kajira found "OUTLAWS OF GOR".... it was loosely based on a John Normand book, and had all the "similar" terms and stuff, but it was very silly, and the acting was horendous. JACK PALLANCE was in it (Ripleys' Believe it or Not, and the old d00d from City Slickers movie) even though he was "good" it was horrible.

This would make a B-movie look like a 5 star billion dollar budget masterpiece.

Although, the outfits were fairly close, and the dance steps in the slave dance was actualy decent.

A fre members of the GOREAN CHATROOM said it would be bad, but it was tollerable all the way up untill the last scene.......

all I can say is BRAVEHEART !

If you have seen both movies, you should be busting a gut laughing at this point.

I look forward to actualy watching the first film simply called GOR.... then I will know how "tWue" Goreans live 24/7 [:D]

ps: if you are a GOR based relationship and want to really laugh at Gorean style of BDSM, you will want to watch this film, but bear in mind it is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING LIKE HOW GOREANS ACTUALY ARE !..... but you know that already [;)]

Unfortunatly the movies had a low budget getting no name actros/actresses and being a B rated movie.

So all the Gor movies can be consider to be cheezy or just plain suck.

Same goes for the movie series "The Story of O"

"Quills" portraying Marguis de Saude however was made with talent and a good budget making it an enjoyable no cheezy film.

haven't seen the flick, but judging from the writing style of John Norman (sophmoric at best) it's not surprising. I'll keep my eyes open though, could be a fun watch on a boring night. B movies are sometimes a blast, a C's gotta have some redeeming charm? maybe? hmmmm

Course some movies are just horribly done, regardless of budget. L Ron Hubbard's Battlefield Earth was a great, if not long, read, far better put together than those of Norman's books I've read, but the Travolta/Scientology produced movie depiction of the story was pathetically horrendous! Among the worst well funded sci-fi flick I ever saw.

I would love to see someone do a really good version of this one. The NC-17 would probably kill it for distribution in theatres, but I bet the video would sell.

the Gor movies May have been still Bad but with a John Norman script.
They would have at least been watchable. In the two films I saw Tarl Cabot became sort of an anti-slavery crusader robbing us of the only reason anyone would rent those movies. Naked slave Women in chains scenes.
Getting money to produce a movie with a pro slavery message is going to be rough in Hollywood.

There also was a comic book planned years ago that I saw based on Gor that actually looked pretty good. I only saw like two pages somewhere online but I doubt it was ever published.

wow. thats a blast from the past. I remember when those filcks came out. the first one was so bad I never wasted my time with the second. back then their only selling point (besides the source material) was the female lead had been a playboy playmate.
