Status: offline 		Hello all, I'm fairly, heck make that completely!, new to the lifestyle of a sub. The urges and cravings are there but I've never found a man to explore them with (I've tried in my vanilla relationships). I don't even know where to began to learn the proper words, speech, dress, etc... But I REALLY want to learn! And I would love to find clubs or other places where I can meet like minded people in my area. But how do I find those places? Is there a protocol for going to such a place? I'm afraid to go to one by my self, but none of my friends are really into the lifestyle. I have a close girlfriend who might accompany me, but I wouldn't want to make her uncomfortable. Any suggestions?

Status: offline 		There are several types of RT happenings that are available.

Munches (Meeting+lunch = munch) a meeting of like minded individuals usually at a vanilla resturant to discreetly meet and talk about their like minds.

Munch +  a Munch with an after event often a play party Sometimes a class on a specific technique or subject

Fetish Club Gothic Industrial clubs often have fetish nights where you might cross paths with someone in the community and get some inside scoop.

Festival/ Event Often a weekend long series of classes, vending, contests, and parties

You can find some events listed in the forums under Upcomming Events, you can find more events listed at http://www.thebdsmeventspage.com, including munch groups, Fetish clubs, Festivals and events...

NC has at least 8 munch groups spread through the state, some cities/areas have several, whiile other areas are kinda sparse.

PS some groups have "newbie guides" a point of contact that introduces you around and fills you in on the gossip, LOL

Status: offline 		Go with whatever RSS said in the private post.  additionally, see www.drkdesyre.com..........do the munches and the groups........when you go, think of it as a bunch of old men drooling in their soup with hounds tooth checked pants..........dress and worry accordinly...........have fun.....it ain't real until the rubber meets the road, kid.

Status: offline 		Yep, Check out the websites they gave you.  Find something that interests you then follow the link on the site to contact the host or owner of the group.
Tell them your concerns.  They will hold your hand so to speak when you arrive..and try to make you a little less uncomfortable.
Everyone is uncomfortable the first time out so don't worry it is completely natural.

I suggest a first time meeting choose a munch it will be the least intimidating for you.

Status: offline 		Thank you for the message, the sites you suggested were very helpful. Thank you everyone who posted. The information I'm learning now is opening my eyes and really helping me weed though things...and people, lol. I think a munch is a lovely idea to get started.

Status: offline 		NaiveTempest i went to my first munch last weekend. it was much less intimidating than i thought it would be! it helped, that someone from CM was there to 'hold my hand' and now that ive gone to one munch i am lining up others. it really is a great low-key way to meet people in a relaxed atmosphere. i wish you the best and remember to enjoy yourself okay?

Status: offline 		By being yourself works wonders in meeting new people, and getting silly people interested in you, even thought they not be what you're looking for. I started by going to google to local up BDSM where I live  "hey look, a local bdsm group..oh, a part a week from now...wow, bdsm people...how is  newbie like myself suppose to be uncomfortable and creep out by this?....silly humans" and then made a lot of friends since...along with the usual community drama, ex, and so on.

Status: offline 		Munch is going to be your best bet. Be yourself dress nice but like you normally would, worry about what a dominant's thoughts on your wardrobe are after you've met and decided to explore things with them.
Honestly we call it a munch because it's usually coctails and appitizers not because we like to bite...unless you ask REALLY nicely.
