Chili Pepper Heat Ratings in Scoville Units
In 1912 Wilbur Scoville, a pharmacist for Park Davis created a scale for pepper hotness. It was based on the amount of dilution it would take for the pepper to be unnoticed by a taster.

Crikey J - wouldnt have a clue.

Would it help if I told you I used to ask for my vindaloo curry extra hot when I was young and foolish?

That was hot enough for sweat to run when you ate it, and sweat to run the next day too, if you know what I mean? (I'm far too ladylike these days to go into details). Few could match me, both during and after!

 correction,
Jalepeno's are about 5,000 S/U  NOT 55,000. Chipotle (which is a ripe, fire roasted Jalepeno) is slightly higher, about 6,000, not 15,000. Take this on the authority of a 4'th generation Native Texan, who is also 1/2 Cajun. (I use hot sauce for blood)
All of these are lovely, and add a great and wonderful spice and tang to our favorite foods.

Im not a lover of spicey things in general or any kind of peppers that would be considered very hot.  I do however, use a bit of crushed red pepper in a couple of things.

 LOL,
OK, true story, I have a very good friend who works for the Natl Severe Storm Lab in Norman, OK. (he's one of those nuts who chases tornadoes for a living.) For a time he was assigned to the Hurricane center in Miami. While there he was given some seeds to a Jamacian pepper called a Scotch Bonnet (quite similar to a Habenero, only more potent, around 4-500,000 S/U) He grew several bushes of these, and one day a friend came over to help him pick his plants. My buddy warned him not to touch his eyes, nose, etc until he'd washed his hands, as even harvesting the peppers was quite sufficient to get enough of the oil on the skin to wreak havoc on any mucous membranes... He neglected to mention that certain other parts of one's anatomy should also not be touched without thoroughly washing the hands first. Friend goes to pee afterwards...loud blood curdling creams ensue, E.R. visit ensues shortly thereafter.
Yes, it does cause a most profound erection. No, you would not enjoy it.
