Okay, maybe I'm wrong, but the one branding I've seen the subject was shocky really fast. could be an isolated case.

It would stand to reason, considering that they won't do more than five piercings (at least the piercers that I talked to) at one time due to shock.

But hey, I have never had any kind of branding, and my pirecings I did myself, so I could be biased.

After a few years doing this I have a few suggestions

1 Use stainless steel either wire or sheet metal bent in the form you like or a stainlesl steel rod to do multi strikes, as stainless will not flake off and leave debris in the wound

2 NEVER close a circle like in O, P, A, Q, D any of these are very likely to casue the skin in the center to die and you may get a severe infection from that. Remember there has to be blood flow in order for the wound to heal.

3 The surgical pen is one way to do them as well and is a lot safer than a heated iron. You dont need a super heated iron glowing white hot. In fact a iron showing very little red will work as well if not better.

4 Clean the area first very well I use a betadine wash then wipe off with alcohol then also do the same with the iron. If doing more than a few strikes is best to clean the iron as well after a few times.

5 Infection is the one thing you dont need keep the wound clean and dry if the pain it too much use ice to cool down at first never a petrol base ointment for the first few days you want the scab to harden at first but then to stay soft till it heals by it self not to keep falling off and re scabbing over.

6 DONT ITCH IT and drag the scab off

Hopes the tips help

MasterDesire sounds like he's giving really good advice, if somebody wants to go through with this. (I weld, and I'm pretty confident he's right that stainless would be least likely to leave debris behind).

I would also add that galvanized metals are to be avoided at all costs! Welders have to take special precautions re: the fumes driven off of galvanized metals, by the welding process, so I'm sure they'd be unhealthy if plunged into human flesh while outgassing chemicals, as galvanization does at high temps. Galvanized steel looks like it has a grayish patina on it, often motled in a camoflauge-like appearance. Chainlink fencing posts are typically galvanized, as are some metal buckets, and old, metal garbage cans.

Having said that, can I just voice what are, at best, strong misgivings that this is a good idea for most people? I mean, I see that it's not much different than a tattoo, but nevertheless, I think it would be informative to start a post asking people to come forward with any tales of regret they may have, re: getting a tattoo or a brand.

I bet, if people are honest with themselves, there would be many such stories, but that is just my opinion, and I'm not trying to offend anyone. I am trying, however, to urge anyone considering body mods to stop and imagine all the worst case scenarios.

Contrary to one who said "in life, there's no guarantees" (or words to that effect) I would counter that there are: those who act in haste are guaranteed to have the time to repent at their leisure...unless, of course, whatever they did killed them first.

Thanks for the mention of galvanized metals. I to weld and due to stupidity cut up a old well tank in a pit and ended up being really sick for a few days. NOT fun.

I may add that piano wire comes in various diameters usually in hobby stores, and can be bent with ease with pliers or a bending jig also at the same store usually.

Also some ladies that make jewelery may have the wire.

Again becareful never too hot

Sound gross but buy a ham butt for dinner and use the skin to play with works great to see the end results before marking your slave and making a HUGE mistake. BEST to never linger too long or go too deep. Usually the count of 1 Mississippi 2 Mississippi is enough. You dont need the skin blackened.

I can say one thing a brand usually in a few seconds will kill the nerve endings in the skin and under it so the pain will not be as bad as a tat. Also not as easy to transfer diseases as with the needles that may not have been propperly cleaned. Also no reactions from the inks if your body rejects the ink.

But again is just my thoughts

Be well be safe always when in dought never act
