I'd be inclined to say that she should not be fired if she is a good teacher; after all, good teachers are rare and vital, and we're pretty stupid when we turn them away. As someone who taught for several years, I can tell you that lots and lots of people are driven from the profession because it offers so few rewards for so much work; if anyone wants to stay, they should be welcomed. On the other hand, that her past has been recorded and is readily accessible puts a different spin on things; it seems highly likely that students will pass around copies of her tapes and snicker rudely at her during class, especially if she teaches middle or high school. Students of that age would think about sex more often than usual (which is probably 80% of the time already) when in class with her. Should she be teaching elementary school, I'd imagine that kids would sense that a lot of people hold her in contempt (regardless of whether they "should" or "shouldn't" respect her), which would undermine her ability to instruct. The same would be true no matter what subject or age group she taught; if she had no support or respect from the community-at-large, her ability to teach her students would be compromised severely, even if no student ever saw or heard of her porn star days. In the end, I would predict that she could no longer be an effective teacher in that community. However, it would be a shame if it were impossible for her to teach in another community that did not or would not discover that she was once a porn star. Like I wrote above, we need good teachers. How depressing that it's so hard to make a career change and so easy to trap people by early choices. No wonder nothing ever changes.
