- although I spent 6 weeks in Benning learning to remove myself from perfectly good planes while they were at the wrong place in relationship to an airstrip

Ahh, the "long course".  [:D] We had to give the extra 3 weeks to squids,  SEALs, and Marines ya know.  Had to teach em how to walk without swaying back and forth on solid ground, before we could teach em how to exit a perfectly good airplane while in flight.

They also sent us into that swamp down there. I believe they considered that "funny".

I considered it cold, wet, hungry and one long assed distance to walk on water (I do not for a minute believe that they did not have an available truck as they inferred).

hehe.  Bet you got plenty of "Georgia sunshine" while there, as well.

Hey, no need for insults!  He wasn't perfect, ya know.  We forgave him.  [8D][:D][:D]

Kahil Gibran (sp) "The Prophet"  Made me think more about why I thought the way I did.
Heinlein, just about everything that he wrote, and for influencing my descion to join the military. Also his books make you think about alot of your moarls.
Taoism in general as a philosphical outlook.

Something else that is outside the obvious and isn't a book but has good stuff in it is the tv show The Dog Whisperer. It is all about dominance, training (or breaking bad habits)  and putting a creature in a calm, submissive state. I've picked up enough ideas from watching it that at times I like to call myself The Cunt Whisperer.

many years ago, after reading many of the "Lifestyle" books, many good... some not-so-good. A friend loaned me one (Non BDSM) that absolutely put things into perspective for me. Lightbulbs went off, explaining "why" my vanilla marriage had ended so confusingly. it certainly has helped me become who i am today. i give it 5 stars.

The Surrendered Wife by Laura Doyle (description included below.)

Description: In this radical and controversial approach to marriage, Doyle presents "The Rules" for wives, explaining how women can enjoy a passionate sex life, peace instead of tension, and intimacy rather than alienation, by establishing a new balance of sharing, giving, and receiving with their husbands. Description: This controversial approach to marriage has transformed thousands of relationships, bringing women romance, harmony, and the intimacy they crave.Like millions of women, Laura Doyle wanted her marriage to be better. But when she tried to get her husband to be more romantic, helpful, and ambitious, he withdrew -- and she was lonely and exhausted from controlling everything. Desperate to be in love with her man again, she decided to stop telling him what to do and how to do it.When Doyle surrendered control, something magical happened. The union she had always dreamed of appeared. The man who had wooed her was back. The underlying principle of The Surrendered Wife is simple: The control women wield at work and with children must be left at the front door of any marriage. Laura Doyle's model for matrimony shows women how they can both express their needs and have them met while also respecting their husband's choices. When they do, they revitalize intimacy.Compassionate and practical, The Surrendered Wife is a step-by-step guide that teaches women how to:
  • Give up unnecessary control and responsibility
  • Resist the temptation to criticize, belittle, or dismiss their husbands
  • Trust their husbands in every aspect of marriage -- from sexual to financial
And more. The Surrendered Wife will show you how to transform a lonely marriage into a passionate union.

I have to say I reallly disliked this book...

The premise of "lie to your spouse if that is what it takes" and "play stupid to make him feel in charge" really turned my stomache.

But, that is just me.

i certainly agree with you on the lies Sir but, putting that aside... the author certainly placed an amazing outlook on the internal emotions and  desires of a woman willing and wanting to submit, and give up control. as i originally stated, it was not about the lifestyle but it did give some great information for me.

I agree there are good points and insights - but, where subterfuge is one of the largest points touted for "harmonious relations"  - well, I have a hard time seeing the 'good' outweighing the 'bad'.
