Only 17 more days until Christmas ...

Once again we find ourselves enmeshed in the Holiday Season, that very special time of year when we join with our loved ones in sharing centuries-old traditions such as trying to find a parking space at the mall.[:)]

Oh look, yet another Christmas TV special! How touching to have the meaning of Christmas brought to us by cola, fast food, and beer... Who'd have ever guessed that product consumption, popular entertainment, and spirituality would mix so harmoniously?[:D]

Ok call me cynical but christmas is nothing more than a chance for retailers etc to make shit loads of money. Christmas has lost its real meaning for me and many i know. Yep we are having a big christmas day party with turkey, trimmings, alcohol but if it was up to me i would just spend the day in bed.

I enjoy watching my children open their gifts and enjoying a nice dinner with them...I am with you on the staying in bed for Christmas--sometimes I wish I could...I will be in church Christmas eve and Christmas day w/ my boys..then clean up all the mess, move on to another year[:)]

I used to go to christmas eve service when i was younger - i loved it. I also loved watching my unmentionable open her pressies when she was little and believed in Santa. Christmas has just lost all its magic for me.
The one good thing is that this year my parents are spending xmas in he UK, they live in Spain so we are having a meal at mine on boxing day. Bad side to this - i'm cooking lol. [:'(]

I will end up cooking for sure...I got out of cooking for Thanksgiving so I can't complain..I couldn't get my boys to sit on Santa's lap this year except my youngest who still believes in Santa.[:)]

Christmas lost its importance with me as well. I think as a child I liked it because of the presents that I got, not really the gain of material possessions, but the surprise to discover what is hiden. As I got older it was more of a way to get together with my family. Now as an adult it just feels like another stressful chore that I have to do. Yet, if I did have children, I would more than likely see it the same way JerseyKrissi does.

I really hate going into a mall in OCTOBER, seeing Christmas trees going up and hearing Christmas music. It dilutes the Christmas experience.

I suggest imposing a rule of absolutely no Christmas music or decorations before 1st of December.

i agree with you there..why do they put Christmas stuff up when Halloween stuff is still in the store? that is just plain stupid
