hi everyone
i beleive this has yet to be asked here, here we go

i been asked to build a bondage wheel out of wood,in a octogone shape
the octogone has 8 sides to it how long would the side have to be to be able to clear a full circle from floor to ceilling
my question here is the ceiling in the dungeon is only 6feet high

i did a rough estimate of 28inch each lenght should give me a wheel of 5.5 feet tall i could round off the corners a bit

An 8 sided regular polygon with 28" sides would have an inradius (center perpendicular to a side) of  33.799" and a circumradius (center to a vertex) of 36.584".  At it's widest point, the octagon would have a diameter of 6.078 feet.

26" sides would give you an octagon that was 5.662' at it's widest point.

If you go to most wood working side (like rockler)  you will find a board ft cal and a simple design feature to draw up the project and print it out.

Good luck, remember, measure twice, drink once

Since the dungeon ceiling height is limited to 6 feet, perhaps you should consider constructing the wheel so it has somewhat of a tilt, on its carriage.  In this way you could fit a larger diameter wheel.  You should also consider having the slave, lie down on the floor spread eagle, and measure the length from toes of their right leg to fingertips of their left out-stretched arm, to get a feel for the true wheel diameter, not the radius, required for your project.  Additionally, you need to determine if you want an open spoked wheel or one filled in using a plywood disc of the desired diameter.  I have CAD plans if your are interested.
