I think they'd have better luch impeaching Bush for what he hasn't done rather than what he has done.
Not closing that Mexican border and not enforcing our immigration laws for one.

Lam is right, there's a lot of shit going on that is covered by the news (and a lot that ain't), we all have some modicum of semblance as to the actual facts...history's going to tell us the actual story (and many of us won't be around to know the final truth)...but it won't be rocket science to figure out that those in the Middle East are not our friends.  Iran being the main player.  Saudi Arabia being another funding agency.

The conventional news isn't playing out for your benefit.

The world is changing in front of you.

Conjecture ain't your friend.

I am a decmocrat but I love Dick Cheney kiss my ass attitude.  The company he was in charge of was charged with the same charges as enron and had to pay fines and the only way you knew that was if you read the business section. and Haliburtion still received federal contracts which I find interesting. Not sure you can impeach anyone other than the president. Will have to look that up.

So you're cool with the torture and domestic surveillance?

Chaingang: Well, I'd acually like to see them all (the Bush adminsitration, or at least a lot of them, including Bush and Cheney and certainly Donald Rumsfeld) "put through the wringer", so to speak. I think we've not seen this kind of idiotic mis-managment on this grand a scale - ever (but I haven't read a lot of political or US history. Maybe it's happened before, kind of, who knows)?

But - you asked whether it would actualy happen (impeachemnt)...I think he's Bush) has got too many "powerful friends" for it to happen. But - maybe my faith in humanity will be redeemed and it will happen. I don't know.

Re Iraq: I think no matter what we do, they're going to end of all killing eachother still. It's tribal war-fare that goes back generations, and we can't stop it. But we managed to help re-ignite the flame that made it blow up to this level (how stupid that was)...

Gosh...all of this mis-management has sort of made be feel tempted to apply for a job in Washington, DC. I never went to Stanford, for instance, nor do I have a Ph.D. in Political Science. But even with all of the so-called experts that were supposedly "consulted" before and during this mess - look what we ended up with. Gee - can I make $250K a year somewhere and still give advice this bad? Tell me where do I sign up?

On second thought, I don't think I could go through with it. People's lives are at stake, after all (which is why it makes me sooo mad). I know there was advice that the Bush administration just refused to follow that may have helped mitigate this mess - but a lot of it was terrible advice (from what I've read). Which doesn't excuse the Bush Administration (not at all).

- Susan

The NSA is not doing "domestic" spying unless you believe every word written in the New York Times. They moniter calls to and from countries where we have and will have many problems in the future. As far as the torture question. I am for stopping the killing of innocent people in our Country and I don't care how they do it. If torturing a few people would have stopped what happened on Sept.11 we should have done it..

I'm a progressive, not a liberal nor a democrat. Ultimately, I am utterly disenfranchised.

Lam:

I did read it, and still think it's bullshit. I'm not the least interested in all of that hand-wringing.

If your position it to leave also, then what use is that article? You are only willing to leave under certain conditions? What are those conditions - and more importantly - can those conditions realisticaly be met any time soon?

I like this one:

---

Articles of Impeachment against President Bush, Vice President Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice have been introduced. It seems like there is no real support for such impeachment as of yet, but I find it interesting nonetheless. ..

My second post on collarme dealt with who were your heroes at the time. Cynthia McKinney is a lady that I noted. She's fearless and a true advocate for the lowest common denominator.

There's a whole bunch of people in this world who only fight with people they know they can beat - A sure sign of a true pussy. McKinney on the other hand, always took on the toughest and the meanest - There's a lota virtue in that. I hope she comes back to Congress one day, as common people will miss her devout fighting spirit.

I'll settle for oversight hearings and having the ''war powers act'' returned to congress. Oh...and an end to all unitary privileges for the executive branch.

Seriously, the best chance to see Bush removed from office would to hope for The curse of Tecumseh to come true.

...to a degree, condoning torture helped set up the events of 9/11..........while the US insists that human rights only apply to Americans then you have to expect some people to violently disagree with that.

I think computers and government are alike. Every now and then they both need to be rebooted. Right now, the US government needs alot of booting and a fresh start of new politicians who aren't affiliated with parties and corporate companies.

Not only could we impeach President Bush ... we could go back and take a look at past Presidents, and see if they have done any stupid things, or perhaps committed some violations.

George Washington ... lets see, lots of kids outside marriage vows.
Thomas Jefferson ... even his sketetons had skeletons.
Abe Lincoln ... probably prolonged the Civil War for a few years, with corresponding casualties.
Teddy Roosevelt ... paid for lots of personal stuff on the government dime.

All four of you are off Mt. Rushmore ... and we will be using the excess stone to build a wall to protect Popeye from the dreaded dangers of hungry Mexicans with thread-bare clothing.

Lets all work together to make our leaders so afraid to make a mistake, that they are afraid to make a decision. What a wonderful plan.

Yeah, that's hilarious, Caitlyn - trying to equate criminal fraud that has led to the death's of thousands with mistakes and errors in judgment.

The decider should have decided not to suck so much military industrial complex cock. And maybe the oil industry can lube itself...

Do you honestly believe that President Bush is the first leader to have done these sorts of things?

Let me ask you a question. If you saw ten people that have all committed the same crime, is there wisdom in only going after one of them ... and then putting the othe nine of monuments and naming days after them?

The world is, what the world is ... bitter and brutal. Iraq is a shitstorm, and several thousand Americans have died. You know what ... ten times that number of runaway children die on our streets each year ... die a dreadful death at the hands of the most ruthless of people.

Who the fuck can we impeach about that?

I really don't find that kind of equivocating useful. The prez is an elected officer who should represent his constituency over his corporate backers - instead it's the other way around.

Fraud is intentional, not an error in judgment.

You didn't even READ the paperwork for EFF v. AT&T, so how can you pretend to speak authoritatively?

Wait until he's out of office and you'll see international actions launched for "crimes" commited by Bush. Of course none will be successful but that won't stop them being made. History will remember Bush for a long time as he become "folk law" for ignorant, inward looking moron. If climate change predictions come true then I hope he is vilified for crimes against humanity...........the real shame is that he is the persona most people in the world associate with Americans......

If the Democrats try to impeach Bush, they will be out of power so fast they won't know what hit em. You liberals are never happy. You got control of the congress, just go to work and do the job you thought the right wasn't doing. I'm sick of the whineing......

That just cracks me up. And what did you call what the Republicans did when they spent months of legislative time and millions of taxpayer dollars impeaching Clinton for having a blowjob? The search for truth?

Frankly, as much as I would love to see Buch impeached and receiving daily waterboards in prison, I am wary of having the Democrats actually do it, solely because I want them to be clearly seen to be taking the 'high road' and not descending to the same sewer-level the Republicans usually hang out in.
