If there is any chance to get his ass out of office any sooner I say it's well worth the effort...He has to be the worst president we ever had..and for the record, I did NOT vote for him...

Yes... I think it's a complete waste of time... it only distracts from more important issues.

I don't really believe it matters what president is in office the same way I don't feel it's important which party is in "control" in Congress.  Money is the real leader of this country.  He who controls the money, controls the laws.

While I answered "don't care" I wanted to comment in a greater scope that the poll allows.

The bill is a waste of time in the realistic effectual sense.  I don't think Bush's actions are impeachable offenses - or at least not with enough proof and/or support.

However - Considering how divided the country is and how empassioned many are on one side of the issue or another - I think the bill is NOT a waste of time in terms of a strong message from the political left.

After all Clinton was impeached with less passion.

I think the attempt would fail and turn the stomachs of all the people in the middle.  Political suicide for the Dems in '08 and completely short-sighted.  So I figure it will be right on top of the agenda in January.

He lied and got our country into a war that has wasted billions and cost thousands of lives. Impeachment is a long drawn out process by the time its complete his two years will be over. I say leave him alone let him finish out the two years use that money to support the familes of troops who are in iraq and look to the future.

Such notables as John Dean and Ramsey Clark have long suggested W be impeached.

Frankly, I don't think it'll ever happen. We never punish those who damage our country (Oliver North, for example), only those who have personal indiscretions.

As a practical exercise it has limited value and many risks but as an idealistic one it is necessary, especially if the USA wants to have any credibility internationally. We have seen how you treat the unscrupulous, criminal leaders of foreign countries. Let us see if you have the stomach to hold your own leaders to account for their lies and for the lives they have taken.

Bush's war has hurt the whole world, not just the States.

Z.

Dubya was an embarassment as a governor and has been a disgrace as a president.  If history won't count him as our worst leader, I can't think of any who have been worse for this country.  He leads from the rear by using fear, bigotry & by suckering people of religious conviction.  Unlike the rest of us, Dubya didn't have the balls to serve honorably in the military, but wanting to supercede his father as a war-time president he premeditated a war with Iraq even before he got into office.  JFK was limited to 1960's technology, and yet he had pictures & proof of the Russians putting missiles into Cuba (& avoided a war).  Despite superior spy technology, Dubya never had squat ... only lies, fear & exaggeration to justify the invasion of a weaker country that was no threat to us -- Dubya has effectively started World War 3.  When he can't accomplish a goal, he waffles & moves the goal posts so his failure isn't so obvious. He's unnecessarily alienated our historic allies, ruined the reputation of this country around the world, put a bull's eye on every American tourist's forehead, and turned a humongous budget excess into a debt your greatgrandchildren will be paying (& he's cooked to books so his profligate spending won't be so obvious).  Dubya has single-handedly started an international religious crusade that we will be forced to defend for generations.  He's depleted our military, shown our weaknesses (esp at Katrina) and our brutality (Abu Ghraib & Guantanamo) ... and all of this weakness only invites more attacks -- we are now LESS safe than when he took office.  He pretends to protect us by more searches of innocent citizens (at airports, and Big Brother data mining) & he's tracking citizens when they travel & wants to institute a National ID card (like every German had to carry their "papers" wherever they went).  While granny has to take her shoes off in the airport & can't carry on her toothpaste, airport workers still steal from your luggage & aren't regulated at all.  And he has done virtually nothing to prevent ships potentially full of hazardous cargo from entering our ports (remember THAT when we are next attacked).  Dubya's got this country into such deep shit that nobody will be able to get us out.  The inability of the Democrats to extract us from Dubya's impossible mess just might get power back to the Republicans in 2008 or 2012 ... NOT only due to inadequacies of Democrats, but the American sheep will forget it was Dubya's fault to begin with.

Hitler wrote Mein Kampf (showing his premeditated plans).  He was elected to power using a "wholesome German values" & fear-mongering political campaign.  He finally invaded Poland by manipulating the press to spread fearful lies that the Poles were a threat to Germany ... he used a shock & awe blitzkrieg to quickly invade Poland for it's material resources.  He used more fearful lies to encourage racial & religious hatred & divert attention from his problems to a scapegoat religious group that was different from the majority.  He also developed a secret police to snoop into every citizen's activities.  W:IQ::AH:PL   You do the math.  I readily admit that there is a difference between Hitler & Dubya:  Hitler never drank or used drugs, and he served honorably in the military & was a wounded & decorated hero in WW1.  Oh ... and let's not forget ... like the Gestapo, Dubya has approved water-boarding for his secret police ... so don't be shocked when his Bureau of Information Retrieval starts using it on US Citizens.

Impeaching Dubya would just be a further waste of time & money.  The troika of Dubya, Cheney & Rumsfeld need to be indicted for War Crimes before the World Court.  They aren't any different from Hitler, Goebbels, & Himmler.  Unfortunately, the winners never are indicted for war crimes.  I certainly hope we win the war ... but I wouldn't mind tossing the 3 of them to the mercy of the world like Ratko Mladic or Slobodan Milosevic. I guess we'll just have to wait & see how El Diablo's war ends, won't we?

Unfortunately, this country has a 1 party political system ... the Corporate Party ... which owns the Democratic & the Republican Parties.  We no longer have party conventions ... the winners are picked before the conventions.  We no longer can vote for our favorite candidate in the primaries ... that candidate is preselected for us in primaries of a handful of states.
The best solution would be a nationwide primary ... 1 citizen, 1 vote ... national direct elections without an electoral college (or at very least, with a proportional electoral college) ... and with at least 3 parties.  But the Corporate Party won't allow that to happen.  So the best alternative is
1) vote your conscience, not for the lesser of 2 evils ... if you vote for the lesser of 2 evils, don't be nonplussed if you find you have elected evil,
2) always vote against every incumbant (Democrat or Republican ... it doesn't matter ... with rare exceptions, they are interchangeable thieves), and
3) make sure that we never elect a single party to control the government.  The US government governs best when it's deadlocked & can't spend all it's time screwing the citizens.

I realize there are still lots of people who have been taken in by Dubya's personable nature & his propaganda machine ... there are holdouts who still disagree with me.  We can only wait to see how this is viewed in the history books (of course, the history books are written by the victors ... not unbiased neutral observers).  I'm just glad I don't have any kids to be cannon fodder for Dubya or grandkids to pay his debts.

Proud to say I've voted against Dubya 4 times ... so far.

I love that word ‘impeached’ sounds like he is going to be shoved into an airtight jar and preserved.

Complete and utter waste of time and money...by the time the process works its way through the system, he will no longer be President...and if you could get rid of him before that, here's a really good reason not to do so....President Cheney.

I'm far from fond of our dear leader, but I think an impeachment effort would either fail or take too long, and it would further turn off an electorate already alienated by partisan bickering. I also think impeaching two Presidents in a row would set a worrisome pattern.

Buchanan and Nixon would be fairly strong contenders.
