Should Mayan people be concerned about the way Mel Gibson's Apocalypto film portrays them in declining civiliation just before Spain arrived to "save them" when they were involved with war and human sacrifice?

Is this for real?

if so, then yes the Mayan people should be pissed off indeed. Just as pissed off as I'd be to see a film being made which portrayed my Anglo Saxon ancestors being "saved" from "superstition" by the most superstitious, fascistic movement that ever dared call itself a religion. It all went wrong for Christianity with Constantine (the emperor, not the psychic demon battling guy), and the compilation of the Little Red Book of the Church, the bible.

We had our own dying and rising God that created and saved the cosmos already, funnily enough, and a far more sophisticated understanding of all things spiritual, as well as a fully formed religion which incorporated the entire culture and possessed more comprehension of the world, before the imposition of Churchianity.

Up with Christ, down with the Church. For all Christs are one, and the Church doesnt know any one of them.

Oh he will get drunk and start insulting someone else before to long. I have only seen the trailers but from what I have seen it is very "Hollywood". All the historical context taken out and recreated to make a good movie. I would be offended if I was Mayan.

I'm Jewish, and I make Jew jokes.  Well, I would, but a joke is funny because of exxageration, and there aint no exaggerating their mannerisms.

So no, I would not be offended.  But I can understand how someone would be.

Then again, it's Hollywood, man.  Any descendant of any historical event that has been redone by Hollywood should be offended.  It will pass.

Yours,

benji

I think I just fell madly in love with Lady E.
The followers of any organized religion are just the sheep of someone; man or womans interpretation of life and those written words.
the love of life, the heart, the soul of humans and the creation of it all in itself is (Godly). Black white brown yellow green or otherwise.

Not quite sure what you're getting at, but humans are generally sheep.  Think about the fact that even non-religious people have names for themselves - atheist, agnostic, etc....

Religion is simply one more outlet, just like fashion, manners, and sexuality.

Yours,

benji

Did John Mayer do the soundtrack?

"I'm Mayer the Mayan
Colop U Uichkin I'm a layin'

My vocals sound as if I'm in pain
But I pull chicks like a train

Oh Mel! What shall we say?
Oh Mel! What shall we do?

"I dunno, John, but let's leave out the Jews!"
