Are prenups needed in a Master / slave relationship?

Should an added financial responsibility be added to a Master / slave contract?

In this day and age I think a pre-nup is needed in any situation where there are assets coming into the relationship. Aside from that it rather depends upon the sort of relationship it is.

Marriage, pretty much covered in a divorce settlement.

Other sorts of arrangements, some sort of legal agreement that is adjusted as the relationship continues and financial situations change, is probably for the best.

i think it would depend on the relationship and the level of dependance.  For example, If a girl was to enter into a Master/slave relationship where she is expected to stay inside the home, i.e. not work at all, then that would usually mean that the slave was totally dependant upon the wages/earnings of the Master.  Add to that any children that may come as a result of the relationship.  If a day comes where the slave finds herself alone, either through death or break up, then it could be very difficult for the slave to re-enter the workforce depending on the number of years of absence.  That's not even taking into account the level of devastation the slave would feel and how hard it may be for the slave to recover on an emotional level to the point of actually being able to work again.

So again, it would depend on the individual relationship.. but it's a healthy consideration as far as i see it.

YMMV.

Unless they are getting married, then a prenup is utterly irrelevant, and if they are, well then that is entirely up to them, I mean I would never sign one, nor ask anybody to do so, but I am a little old fashioned that way...I feel if you are going to plan the disolution of your marriage before you are even married, well then why bother.

I'm also uncertain as to whether you can have a prenup without nuptials.  Perhaps in common-law states you can have them.  Whenever people marry and combine their assets and debts, a prenup would be advisable.

Arpig, your antipathy to prenuptual agreements is romantic, but not practical if you've amassed a couple of million bucks (even Canadian!) or more, and have ideas where you want that money to go in the event love's youthful blossom fades.

I don't know Canadian divorce law, but in the good old USA, prenups are used to preserve significant assets coming into a marriage, because the marital rights will otherwise significantly alter the disposition of those assets in the event of divorce or death of the party seeking the prenup.  They may not be romantic, but in my experience, they are usually objected to by the person who stands to make the most in a divorce, not by the person who has the significant assets.

Besides, without a good prenup and a will, who's gonna take care of your puppy and your kitty?

Well, since in this scenario I would be dead....what do I care, I am dead, I have bigger problems to contend with.

And you are right, my view is romantic, but if you don't plan on staying married "til death do you part", and want to make sure the new partner doesn't get his/her hands on one's wealth, then why the fuck are you marrying the person??

it depends on the relationship and the individuals involved.

Master and I now do not live together, so having a pre-nup contract would be useless.

My late Master and I, we did live together. He, in fact, moved into a house that was owned by me ( it had been passed to me by my grand mother ).  As far as I was concerned, when he moved in with me, it became our home and not my house. If he had requested that the name on the house be transferred to him, I would have done it willingly and with a smile on my face.

As for whether or not an added finacial burden should be placed on the Dominant/Master...not unless it is something that is discussed beforehand and in detail.

So could a period of time define the need for support in the eyes of a court?

So thru emotional dependency financial responsibility would be deemed by the court?
