That's the hot Japanese pitcher the Red Sox are supposedly pursuing.
I have to say, the minute I heard that the Red Sox had posted $51.1 million for the right to talk to him (which they'll get BACK if they don't sign him), I was convinced it was just a ploy to keep him from the Yankees. All the pundits said no, they're really serious about this, they've calculated it and think of it as an investment in Asia. Bullshit. No one noticed there's something wrong with a process that allows people to bid any number of dollars without committing?
