FREE gig of FREE e-mail space - 2/17/2005 3:52:50 PM

Someone had brought this up before collarme crashed a few weeks back. Gmail.
It is a e-mail service google has been beta testing for the better part of a year.
Someone sent me an invite a long time ago, honestly I signed up and haven't done anything with the account thus far. Figured a gig of space for pics or whatever on someone else's server couldn't be too bad to keep in reserve though. If you know what I mean.

So, I signed in today. I have 50 more invites to give away. If anyone would like a free e-mail account with a gig of storage space send me e-mail requesting so at

[email protected]

- 1,000 megabytes (one gigabyte) of free storage
- Built-in Google search that instantly finds any message you want
- Automatic arrangement of messages and related replies into
"conversations"
- Text ads and related pages that are relevant to the content of your
messages

Gmail is still in an early stage of development. But If you set up an
account, you'll be able to keep it even after we make Gmail more
widely available. We might also ask for your comments and suggestions
periodically and we appreciate your help in making Gmail even better.

Now as I said I have not done much with the account thus far. So if it takes me a day or two to log in to see if there is mail...please be patient.

Yeah, I think I brought it up, and I still have 150 invites to give out.

I give 20 or 30 away, and in a week, I'm back up to 150 again. It's making me want to kill.

Funny. Google is a cool company, the only question I have is who needs a gig of email space?

So google is turning you into a dom? Or an abuser? Since it makes you want to kill, I'd say an abuser would be a better term.
Wonder if that would hold up in court? I killed because of google?

I might use a gig of email space, eventually, because i archive a LOT of my old email, going back years. That's not why I have a couple of gmail accounts though. I like the way they thread the mail. It's a very convenient way to keep things organized.

Your statement reminds me a lot of the one Bill Gates made some years ago; "64k should be enough memory for everyone." I've had Gmail since 09/01/2004 and am already using 55% of my space.

Kill myself mostly. LOL

But I think you knew what I meant sub4hire. Not literally, metaphorically.

Yes I did. You're right. I had not logged into gmail in a very long time. I usually have them forward any mail. Yesterday when I logged in I had 50 invites. Gave away 8 last night. Logged in this morning I was back up to 50...

Of course, your right BeachMystress. Market forces and cost/MB being what they are I suppose 1 gig will seem like standard fare in a few years (or less). Not that I'll ever use that much space, but others will I'm sure.
